Very well done! I presume you used the S2, but which lens?

The same happend to my 120 mm lens about three months ago. It had to go to Wetzlar and came back 6 weeks later, at no cost.

A year ago we spent 10 days in Lappland. Several times we were out in -20 to -25 Centigrade for 2 – 4 hours at a stretch. Neither the S2 nor the m9 showed any problems with the cold. The only precaution we took upon returning back to our cabin: The cameras stayed in the respective bags until they reached normal temperatures again. This was done to avoid condensation on and in the equipment.

Very interesting and well done. Thanks for describing the procedure you used.

I fully agree with the points you made. The Leica User Forum, for example, is practically worthless for us amateur – S2-users.

I reported on June 30, 2014 (post 4768) that the autofocus on my 120 mm lens failed. It has since been repaired in Wetzlar. Now the same thing happend with my 35 mm (all non-CS). This time the lens was returned within about three weeks.
I wonder when my other lenses (70 and 180 mm) will go off line. The failure rate is very disturbing. How can you go out to far away places with this gear when you never know if it will function or not? The defective lenses did not even work in Manual mode.
