Join Leica experts Josh Lehrer and David Farkas for this episode of Red Dot Forum Camera Talk as they take an in-depth look at the new Leica APO-Macro-Elmarit-SL 100mm f/2.8, Leica’s first dedicated macro lens for the SL-System and their first native 1:1 full-frame macro ever.Josh has been putting the new 100mm Macro SL through its paces, testing it head-to-head against other Leica options for macro and close-up photography, including the APO-Macro-Elmarit-R 100mm, Macro-Elmar-M 90mm, APO-Macro-Elmarit-TL 60mm and APO-Summicron-SL 90mm.And we won’t just be talking about the results. We’ll be shooting live with the different lenses and configurations so you can see how they compare in real time. We’ll look at magnification, working distance, handling and image quality.Thanks to full compatibility with Leica’s 1.4x and 2x Extenders, we’ll also see how the teleconverters can increase working distance or push magnification all the way to a 2:1 reproduction ratio while retaining full-range focus. We’ll shoot with the various configurations live and take a close look at how the extenders affect reach, magnification, handling and image quality.Of course, the APO-Macro-Elmarit-SL 100mm f/2.8 isn’t limited to macro.
