Discussion Forum General Discussion General Leica Discussion How do you track the real performance of Google Ads?

After switching to GA4, working with Google Ads became a pain. The reports are superficial, user analytics is scanty, and there is no end-to-end analytics.
I think it’s time to switch to external solutions that provide normal data on sources and the actual profitability of campaigns.
I’m interested in the experience of those who integrated third-party platforms to track the effectiveness of Google advertising. What did you use? What really works?

GA4 is not for business at all. We took a third-party tracker, and only then saw that most of the “effective” campaigns were actually wasting the budget.

You’re not alone with the GA4 problem – my team and I also moved away from it after a couple months of problems. Instead, we started using Google Ads Campaign Optimization Software . It was a great decision because we got direct integration with Google Ads. What’s important – they integrate data from Shopify, Facebook, Google and Amazon and you can see not just clicks, but how a person went through the path to purchase. I recommend going through their demo: it’s easy to see where the money is coming from and where it’s just garbage traffic. Do you have a multi-channel funnel, or is everything going through PPC?

I used to treat popunder as an outdated ad model, but I wanted to see how it actually works today. While browsing forums, I stumbled upon this detailed guide: popunder – https://en.trafficcardinal.com/post/popunder-ads-in-2025-how-they-work-benefits-best-networks. What struck me most is the way these ads stay hidden until the user finishes their browsing session. Instead of breaking the flow like popups, they wait quietly and often end up getting more attention in the end. The article also pointed out why industries like iGaming and VPN services rely on them heavily. For me, the technical side — tracking, frequency caps, and fighting bot traffic — was the most valuable takeaway.
