I would hesitate putting a DSTE battery into a Leica, despite them being roughly 17x cheaper. But, if Panasonic is manufacturing the Typ 112, has anyone used a Panasonic battery in this camera?

I’ve had both the LF1 and C-112 side by side, and everything is identical including the battery – the only difference the exterior finish of the camera. You can definitely use the Panasonic battery. There is a possibility in the future that Panasonic or Leica (or both) could do what Panasonic did a few years ago with the LX3 (same as D-Lux4) – Panasonic issued a firmware upgrade that if you installed it, your LX3 would no longer accept any battery except the Panasonic version. But I consider that unlikely for the C-112.
