Discussion Forum Leica S System Workflow and Processing Compressed or Uncompressed RAW files, any difference?

      When the S2 allowed compression, I heard there was no visible difference, nor could I see any versus non compressed, other than my HD filling up faster. Yet this blogger claims a big difference in ability to work with RAW files.

      There is absolutely no difference. Given that there are a few factual inaccuracies in the article, I would be careful taking too much of it very seriously.

      Jack, I just read the article as well. I’ll second what Josh said.

      The S2 uses lossless compression. There is no difference whatsoever in image quality. Test this for yourself.

      I’ll restrain myself from correcting the other bits of misinformation at this time, but let’s just say that I would take it all with a large grain of salt.

      I have been using lossless compression for the past two years and have not noticed any detrimental changes. :):)
