Thanks David, I’ve waited a few days before responding, because I was hoping that others might chime in, but somehow there doesn’t seem to be much interest in this topic. In any case, it’s still early days and a lot might happen between now and second quarter 2015.
I like your matching argument and that can be an important consideration, thoug…[Read more]

Four recent images I processed to illustrate how I use the Leica T/18-56 and what kind of results I get shooting JPEGs: The Halloween house was easy to shoot, but difficult to get the perspective right after the fact (using an old copy of Paint Shop Pro). The leaves-in-flowerpot is a favorite of mine for color and texture. The fish had to be…[Read more]

This little video of a 120mm lens focusing before and after the update suggest there is one less step of searching now.
The sound tells the story a bit clearer than the embarrassingly fuzzy image. -
Josh Lehrer wrote a new post, Price Reduction on Leica Summarit-M f/2.5 Lenses 11 years, 6 months ago
Having announced a line of redesigned Summarit-M Lenses at Photokina, Leica is now in the process of phasing out the current f/2.5 Summarit lens line. This means that Leica Store Miami is able to offer these excellent lenses at reduced pricing, brand new.
The Summarit-M f/2.5 lenses offer a great combination of light weight, fast focus throw, and superb optical performance. In addition to being lovely to use on an M camera, they can be especially handy when used on smaller form cameras like the Leica ( Typ 701). Here is a list of the reduced-rice lenses Leica Store Miami has in stock:
Leica Summarit-M 35mm f/2.5 – $1,695 (Was $1,950)
Leica Summarit-M 50mm f/2.5 – $1,295 (Was $1,750)
Leica Summarit-M 75mm f/2.5 – $1,695 (Was $1,950)
Leica Summarit-M 90mm f/2.5 – $1,895 (Was $2,150)

Peter,
One big difference in the video specs between the S 007 and the NX1 is the color sampling. The S 007 uses 4:2:2 while the NX1 uses 4:2:0. Having seen comparisons, the color accuracy and quality of 4:2:2 is vastly superior.
Granted, there are other cameras offering Cinema 4K capture with 4:2:2, but none using medium format sensors and…[Read more]

Hi everyone, I think it's a really good that David started this thread about video in the new S.
First, there is a lot of technical aspects to video/motion and some may benefit from watching this video here:

It's 40 minutes, but quiet helpful to anyone who is new to this.

Me too Tim!
Just decided right after the Photokina announcements … and got it
After the move to CMOS for the (007), and not liking the cosmetics of the SE, I decided to grab a (006) while a new one could be had.
Sold the S2P to a friend for a good price, and the move cost me less than I expected, so it was a no brainer. Three more years of c…[Read more]

David,
After browsing in the new layout for quite some time I think I have a clear opinion about the new look and feel. In general I like the new approach with the header including News, Reviews etc. Nicely presented, worth to continue reading. Even more worth for the community to add own articles as they are not that hidden anymore. Nicely…[Read more]

I use LR for basic adjustments and then move into Photoshop for things like skin retouching, etc. From a workflow perspective LR and Photoshop work seamlessly. Right click on an image in LR, choose edit in Photoshop, make the edits, close and save and the finished image is back in LR. From there I export it in the format and size needed. I…[Read more]

Great question, Giorgio. I use Lr for my processing and during import I apply my personal S2 preset with the following:
White balance As Shot
Clarity +7
Vibrance +4
Everything else at zeroSharpening: 40, 1,0, 30, 10 and Noise Reduction: 7, 50, 0, 25, 50, 50
I have Enable Profile Corrections checked, and that's it. These settings are just a…[Read more]
