Recently returning to waterfall photography. Those are very tricky. I need to capture light from various parts, some quite distant. Spot-metering on the xV is helpful for this, but would be more effective if the spot can be reduced in size, and made circular/elliptical instead of or in addition to rectangular, vertical or horizontal orientation,…[Read more]

  • Craig,

I really enjoyed your photos. I have been reviewing photos of Iceland for the last couple years now and researching for a trip to Icenland for myself. You have some images of the Iceland coastline on your website that I haven't seen before and would like to see in person. Thank you for posting.

  • This post is so great and nice :p

It is the last optical/mechanical update of the Zeiss 40mm lens for the Hasselblad V mount cameras, and is much improved over the previous CFi 40/4 FLE. There was also a CF 40/4.

  • My order is in also with Leica Store Miami. I like the white, can't wait. Will make a great boat/party/take anywhere camera. Love the Wifi feature and EVF!

  • New Nocti arrived, snapped a few MM images – awesome detail, back in business.

  • Please post some results with this combo, I'd be curious to see what these lenses can do on the S2.

The Leica C is the first Leica to feature an integrated Wi-Fi and NFC module. These features allow the user to remotely control the Leica C through a smartphone or tablet while viewing the image on the smartphone or tablet. This allows for better self-portraits (yes, the selfie!) and group pictures without excluding anyone using the remote release and/or self-timer. To enable this function, a user only needs to download the Leica C Image Shuttle app from the App Store (for IOS support) or Google play (for Android support) and install it on their IOS or Android end device.

The Leica C Image Shuttle app allows the user to control the various functions of the camera via their smartphones or tablets. With this app and a Wi-Fi connection, the user can download images directly to their smartphone or tablet and then connect to any social media such as Facebook, Instagram, etc. The Leica C allows the user to send images while recording and to send images stored in the camera.

    COMPACT, VERSATILE AND STYLISH
The Leica C benefited from the design expertise of the Audi Design Team. The slim and stylish form of the Leica C makes it a perfect fashion accessory that is easy to carry around either in a pocket or purse. Despite its extremely compact form, it features an excellent zoom lens that makes it perfect for capturing spontaneous situations while offering unlimited opportunities for creative expressions. The 7x zoom lens is equally outstanding for capturing intimate portraits, expansive interiors, and fascinating landscapes. A freely programmable focusing ring for personalized settings offers even more creative options. Available either in light-gold or dark-red, the color options attests to the simple and stylish elegance and of the Leica C.

SUPERIOR PICTURES WITH THE FINEST DETAILS
The unusually large sensor for a camera as compact as the Leica C combined with its precise optics, guarantees sharp images with brilliant, natural colors and outstanding contrast. The Leica C captures everything including tiny details because of its extremely fast autofocus and ability to shoot up to ten frames per second in continuous shooting mode.

    FULL HD VIDEO
The Leica C records video with sharp resolution of even the finest details in full-HD quality. The photographer is always in control of recording with the large monitor screen and electronic viewfinder which is effective when shooting in bright light. In addition, a selection of creative modes offers numerous options for creative ideas even after recording. The Leica C offers creative post processing of both still pictures and video. In addition, the professional Adobe Photoshop Lightroom software that can be downloaded from the Leica homepage gives the same creative post processing options.

    PHOTO ARCHIVE SERVICE

With the wrist strap attached to the Leica C and hanging out of the C-Clutch, it makes a casual carrying strap for the fashionable C-Clutch.

Overall this is an incredibly exciting announcement, especially the camera's small size in relation to its long zoom range. As a frequent D-Lux 6 shooter I am looking forward to testing the new Leica C thoroughly to see how it compares.

The Leica C will begin shipping in October 2013, with most accessories also coming in October. For more information or to place a pre-order, call Leica Store Miami at 305-921-4433 or send us an email.

It's a good time for an update. My MM is waiting for a lens, so I've been using the XV for a week. First impression from latest use: It's a Leica, it's reasonably light, very handy, has a great zoom lens, image quality bests everything I've used that's digital, and it can be slow at times, particularly when the lens is extended. If I hadn't gotten…[Read more]

  • Mark,
Regarding framing cost, I have an amazing museum quality wholesale printer who estimated this will cost under $1,000. Normal framers wouldn't even try this. I will report the actual cost when I see it. I agree with you that canvas wraps can simplify framing, but when we have cameras that have this quality and resolution, printing on paper…[Read more]

  • Jack MacD;4972 wrote: How Large Can You Print? I will keep this unframed for a bit, as it is useful to carry around to clients to show just how much detail can be held in a large fine art print. Jack

Apologies if this was answered, but how do you carry the large print around, and protect it?

  • Thanks David. There are so many factors …. but the scaling thing may very well account for why some of my images look great and others that should look as good don't have the same impact on the same screen. In any case I have a lot of automation tools for the PC that don't run native on the Mac, so a good PC laptop will come in handy on road…[Read more]

  • Jack,

Seeing the print laid flat with the lady standing behind it really demonstrates just how big it is. It will be considerably larger with the mat and frame. You will need a large wall to hang it on. It should look awesome though.

The cost of framing is a huge obstacle for large prints. I am guilty of getting my big prints done on…[Read more]

  • Great thoughts. More resolution shouldn't hurt. A lens and camera that support a sometimes spontaneous shooting style is my favorite. I've belonged to several clubs that identified as photo clubs (as compared to camera clubs), the last one a really big regional club, but everyone always went out to the shoots with camera and big tripod. So far…[Read more]

  • Arif, Mark, Roger, and RVB,

Thanks for your comments. Joe and I have been coordinating ideas on how best to frame such large prints going forward. He was considering mounting frameless on aluminum, but services that we have found to do that, also unfortunately require their own printing. If anyone knows of a service that mounts ones own…[Read more]
