Some people don't want to spend all of their time in Photoshop to mimic the results of black and white film
To reduce the M-M to a camera that saves you just the time developping your b/w-pictures would be a real misunderstanding of this concept.
With the M-M you get (over a standard M9):
– Significant better ISO-performance (look…[Read more]

Not the focusing scale is flared out but the depth-of-field scale. The difference, so I've been told, is purely mechanical. In the original version, you could block the focusing mechanism just by pressing the rear part of the barrel (where the DOF scale is) real hard with…[Read more]

FYI, the top sync speed with the H lenses adapted to the S2 is not 1/1000, it is 1/750.

Kurt,
The 100 is a nice compact size and a favorite focal length for shooting, it may be a consideration for me. The ability to use a 300 AF is a real plus and used pricing is “affordable” cough cough. Would be nice to see the Leica plans for that lens, price and roll out. The 50 II from what I have read is a great lens but the size is about…[Read more] -

That brings back memories. I was an Ilford guy processing in Rodinol 1:75. Acutance you could cut with a knife. The smell of the acetic acid stop bath eventually destroyed most of my ability to smell certain scents. It was great fun and I don't miss it a bit!

The 50mm II and the 100/2.2 would be nice walking around lenses though. The 35-90 is an excellent lens, but you are right, it is a beast.

They can add that BW mode with the CS switch, that way does not change the form factor or add any unnecessary buttons 😀

Talk about a niche product offering! Maybe the television manufacturers will take a hint from Leica 🙂 No offense intended towards Leica; just took delivery of my first M9, the 35 1.4 and the 75 2.5.
The system is everything I expected, and I am making money using it, which was my intent. I had agonized over the thought of waiting until 5-10…[Read more]

Yup, Waiting also the S3, because reading this and LFI, there seems to be too much problems with the S2. The investment for me is so expensive that I'd like to have the camera with less problems. – vintola –

“Leica is all about unique products that are peerless, and I think the new Leica M Monochrom fits that perfectly. Of course they understand it won't be the volume seller so that puts the price point a bit higher.”
But this is precisely the reason why Leica was almost bankrupt a few years ago. This is not a smart business decision. Leica…[Read more]
