While flying into Reagan Airport last Sunday, I had the good fortune to have seat 1A in a small commuter jet (window/aisle), good lighting, and my D-Lux 6 in hand with the optional view finder attached. Our approach took us directly past the western edge of the Washington DC Mall. Setting the scene mode to “through a window”, I thought I’d take a few shots. Another fine example of what this little camera can do.
What is equally surprising is that these shots were taken late in the morning, during the Federal shutdown. The mall is essentially deserted. You can zoom in on the images and actually count the number of tourists. It was a fantastic day to see the sights and take pictures without dealing with the hoards.
