One of the biggest concerns people have with “hot tenting” is safety, especially regarding the stove jack and the proximity of the heat to the tent walls. I’ve been using a wall tent with wood stove from the Coody collection, and the engineering is very impressive. The stove jack is made of high-temp fire-resistant material, and the air-beam frame is kept far enough away from the chimney to stay perfectly safe. There is nothing quite like coming back to camp after a day of fishing, lighting up the Caminus M stove, and having your gear dry out in 20 minutes. It turns a damp, cold evening into a cozy experience. As long as you use a spark or heat shield, it’s a very reliable and safe way to stay warm.
