Jack MacD replied to the topic 24mm in use in the forum S Lenses 13 years ago
This is a landscape using the 24. This is a 2.5 to 1 crop of the slightly vertical shifted full frame. I encourage you to examine the detail. This is a test shot of an eventual enlargement that will go over six feet wide. The shot was taken out of a window that precluded the use of a tripod. I shot it at 1/250 braced, but when one enlarges it to…[Read more]

David,
The S can take waves better than your lights. Where are your lights placed?
As I have reported, I have had waves wash over my S2 multiple times while on a wave runner photographing sailboats up close. Absolutely no issue. But your lights must have been behind you where? -

Jack, I sure hope those CS lenses show up before November. Got my 70mm and am waiting patiently for the 120mm. Those are pretty much the only ones I use with lights.
Mark, most of the time I shoot my Nikon D4 for this kind of stuff even though I like the images from the S2 better. I started this shoot down by the surf with the Leica and…[Read more]

David, thank you for the offer. I will take you up on it. However, I won't be bringing the zoom cause I haven't bought it yet. David was able to get a demo from Kelsey for the workshop but they are still scarce.
Please feel free to make us jealous with some more of your photo shoots.:D

Kipper,
I suggest you offer to lead a Farkas experience called “Fashion Models” this November.
No, “Fun in the sun” sounds like a better title. Why November? Because we will have enough CS lenses by then. -

Mark, just give me a heads up when you're headed down and I'll arrange for some fun shooting. Just make sure to bring your new zoom lens along so I can try it out š
It looks like you guys had a great workshop. Unfortunately, it just wasn't in the cards for me to join you this time.

Well done David. One of these days I will come to south Florida and come see you and your models rather than go to the Everglades. It's no wonder you didn't come to on the workshop – why go chasing beauty when it will come to you!

elia9085 replied to the topic DNG FILES in the forum S2 13 years ago
If I shooting compressed what I never do, files ~45mb. But uncompressed 75mb. Only after Lightroom conversions or metadata & preview updated size shrunken to 45-47. The same situation with M9 DNG. From 18.3 to 8-9.

Cam Garner replied to the topic DNG FILES in the forum S2 13 years ago
My files also come in at 45MB and I am shooting uncompressed. I checked to make sure I was shooting uncompressed by looking at how many images a 32G card would hold which is roughly 400 images. If I then changed to compressed then it shows I can capture close to 600 images. As another comparison, I looked at the images I import from my Nikon…[Read more]

Well,
Iām shooting uncompressed DNG files. They are 75 mb in size. If I import them in catalog as copy, size remained as 75mb. If I import as copy DNG or after files in catalog and I select update DNG metadata and preview or export to DNG files shrink to 45mb. Both versions of lightroom . 4.4 and 5 beta -
Josh Lehrer replied to the topic DNG FILES in the forum S2 13 years ago
The Leica S/S2 can shoot either a compressed or uncompressed DNG file. If you shoot an uncompressed DNG file it will be around 75mb in size. If you shoot compressed, that's around 45mb. By default, Lightroom does not change the file size of a DNG, what you are probably seeing are files that you shot compressed.

Ok I'm a novice but with Marc's recommendation I've jumped into the Strobe and SF58 fill light work. This is a barrel cactus in my front yard this morning. The sun is behind it so this side was in shadow so much no detail was present. Using Marc's recommendation on equipment and procedure I produced these photos.

Indeed this is great news, even astoundingly good news, and this should save everyone time trouble and expense in dealing with a possibly recurring problem. It also seems to confirm that previously this has been solved in software remapping rather than sensor replacement.

I figured it was time for me to show some of my photos especially since I had to leave early on Sunday and missed the slide show.
First morning sunrise.
