I really like the G-Star Raw – the extras like the wrist strap and carry case I really use, and they account for a lot of that difference.

people think it's the same as the LX7 but there are subtle differences. At least in jpg-files.

Nevertheless, I use the D-Lux 6 very often and for most family oriented photos it is a lovely camera, also for some other stuff like quick macros for selling something etc.

  • I have shot a few thousand photographs on the M240. It has exceeded my expectations. It surpasses the M9 in many areas. It is a real joy to use and feel fortunate to have mine.

Let me do my best to try and address all of your concerns.

  • I have a D-Lux 6 (for about 3 months as of this writing). I recently took it with me as a third camera on a trip to Paris with the wife. I say third camera because I had my M9 and X2 as primary cameras. Anyway, I was shooting with the DL6 inside the Louvre and in the space of about one hour, on four separate occasions other people roaming the…[Read more]

  • I have had my XV for a week now. I was interested in this camera from the time of announcement. The reason is simple: Leica quality glass in a modest zoom and not a shoulder crushing camera body. I was a little disappointed in the zoom range… I'd have liked 90mm instead of the 70mm but that's just me.

I tried this camera out at the new L…[Read more]

Still getting used to the xVario. Very nice in the hand. Excellent for all kinds of casual and candid shots and in general, also for manually focused close-ups. Still gathering equipment for the latter. Beginning to try it on orchids (my current specialty), and other floral close-ups.

The fixed lens defines this as an alternative to the…[Read more]

Thank you, I'm looking for more interesting performers to continue my series. So far no one has responded to my ad for a model that can juggle chainsaws. I'll keep looking.

The self timer (ST) can be set at 2 or 12 s., just as in the M9. However, as the manual states, the setting is not persistent. This means that, for every shot in a series, the direction pad has to be operated 2-3 times to select the function and set the delay time, and then the setting saved by partial shutter pressure (or immediately taking the…[Read more]

  • By default, C1 doesn't have built-in profile support for the S-System. Remember, Phase One and Leica are competitors, so Phase isn't motivated to optimize their software for Leica files. S files come into C1 as generic DNG files and look pretty terrible as compared to LR.

That being said, Leica created an ICC camera profile for use in C1 if…[Read more]

  • The third one is really cool. 🙂

  • Do you have a proper profile for the S in C1? I must admit I am not sure if C1 is supporting the S. Have you tried LR?

Leica experience. Unboxing the camera and holding it is impressive. I don't think I would have found that especially important at one time – now I do.

Manual operation, when manual operation isn't so much extra work as it is having a direct and positive control of the camera. The lens barrel, with focus and zoom…[Read more]
