No idea on price, but I'm expecting Leica to show the lens along with the 24mm f/3.5 at Photokina in two weeks. We'll have a all the details then…. and yes, I will be attending and reporting.

The drama is simple. A mistake will cost you several thousand dollars. The S2 sensor is designed with the cover glass glued onto the sensor. You can't just replace the cover glass, you have to replace the entire sensor if the cover glass gets scratched. Also, please note that is pretty easy to scratch the coating on the cover glass.

Very impressive photos. I'm glad you were safe. So much in life is about timing.
I like how you instinctively started photographing. In a situation like you described, photography is much more than just documenting what's in front of you. It's an opportunity to ask and to try to uncover the question ‘why?'

I can assure you that Lightroom 4 fully supports the S2. In fact, LR4 is included when you buy a S2. Leica and Adobe seem to have an excellent relationship. In fact, this link shows that the latest release candidate for LR4 includes profiles for S lens that haven't even been released yet.

I'm curious about this. Looking at Adobe's site about Camera Raw, I see that the S2 isn't listed: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/extend.html. (The MM is listed.)
Anyone know why that is? I'm upgrading software and saw this. Also, does anyone have any opinions about CS6/Lightroom 4.1 versus Capture 1? I haven't used Capture 1, but…[Read more]

Visible Dust makes sensor swabs sized for the S2 and they have good products for wet cleaning. However, wet cleaning should be a last resort. First try a blower, then light brush (Visible Dust makes good brushes as well). If it is oil on your sensor as you suspect, a wet clean will be necessary. However, it takes a brave person to do it yourself.…[Read more]

albertknappmd replied to the topic 180mm or 120mm First? in the forum S Lenses 13 years, 8 months ago
I have both the 120 and the 180. The former is the direct descendant of the famous 100mm MACRO R lens and it is a stunner… the ultimate MACRO but also a superb portrait lens.
Probably will be the overall best lens in the S2 universe. The 120mm is more vesatile but then again, the 180 is extraordinary as well.
You will end up buying…[Read more]

I am loving my 35mm ‘Lux 1.4 FLE. I can't find anything wrong with it – no vignetting, no corner smearing, no chromatic aberration. Probably the best lens I've ever owned.
