The first lens tried was the 100mm f/4 Macro, and I forgot the advice I saw posted to set the Summarit wide open manually before mounting an adapted lens… I think this was in the context of using the 110mm f/2 Hasselblad lens. Anyway, the camera “thought” the Macro lens was f/6.8 and all the exposures were about 1.5 stops…

As was announced at Photokina 2010, Leica has been developing alternative lens adapters for the S2. These will allow a an S2 user to mount any Hasselblad CF or FE, Pentax 67 or (manual focus) Mamiya 645 lens […]

  • Possibly a menu item which allows the user to input an autofocus calibration offset, not unlike that offered by Nikon/Canon and others. A friends Pentax 645D has this feature, and it has proven most beneficial.

  • Kurt, you seem to be doing pretty well without any flash on the S2. Tell us what you think you may need flash for. Being specific can help with sharing techniques.

Basically, the trick with using a speed-light is to use it as little as possible … or with as little help from the flash as possible.

To really effectively use flash in…[Read more]

Converting to B&W is a subjective thing and it really depends on what your final statement will be. I have used most of the different techniques, LR, PS, and now Silver effects 2 and found that to be the closest B&W conversion tool.

When I am doing a B&W conversion, I want it to look like a B&W print in both tonality and texture.…[Read more]

We had over 100 visitors celebrating the opening of the exhibit on Saturday. One visitor came all the way from Texas to see the work. Overall, a fun time was had by all.

  • I wish I had a better idea of what kinds of things can be addressed with firmware (vs hardware). Anybody out there feel like sharing some knowledge. For example, could Leica implement a 1 push 100% zoom feature.

  • I was able to tap on the image (incomplete preview shown) and save to Photo App on my iPad and then I could see the whole image.

Very well done Pete. I doubt that a 24 mm could capture the whole scene considering the image y posted is a 4 image stitch from a 35 mm.

Here's a cool video showing how Leica makes lenses, and a few interesting facts about production. I've toured the Leica factory in Solms five times now, but I am no less amazed at how much time and care goes […]

  • Thanks Jack.

We've done a few of the usual suspects: Grand, Bryce, Arches, Canyonlands, Antelope, Monument Valley and a little bit of Zion. So I will post some more pictures step by step.

Re what I will do with it: I dont know yet. I still have a crush on my camera, we do not know each other that well. If you understand what I mean.…[Read more]

So you want USB 3.0 on your Mac? So would we all. Stay with your PC, as 3.0 is going to be added to a Mac right after Jobs adds Blue Ray disk readers and writers, and you know it.

Since I want to use a MacBook Air for photo travel, I would have been happy if it had FireWire 800, but that's not going to happen. Nor is 3.0. So…[Read more]

    Jack,

Thanks for the advice re:focus stacking. I've read about it but have yet to give it a try. Took a few shots with the 120 macro again today and find that the more I use this lens the better I like it. The second shot is a crop taken from a different photo than the first. I actually like the crop better but thought I'd post the shot of…[Read more]

Haha. Good to know that I'am not the only one. I ALWAYS turn into the wrong directions. It would be so easy to add.

That makes at least three of us – You, Jack, and myself. Hopefully, there are more so Leica will seriously consider this firmware change.
