The systems are pretty similar at this point in time. Not enough edge in one versus the other to promote switching either way.
However, if you don't have your own IT person to aid you, or you are not fully qualified to be your own IT person, the support system at Apple stores for individual Mac users is pretty compelling. If you are your own IT…[Read more] -

Josh and David, thank you for showing me what is possible. I am embarrassed to admit it but truth be told I have purchased three previous Photoshop versions (CS2, CS3, and CS4) with every intention of learning how to use it each time I purchased it. It's funny that it took me three well intentioned tries before I figured out not to buy CS5.

Mark,
I was on the same wavelength as Josh apparently. I also used Lighten for my blending mode, but added some curves adjustments with clipping paths. This applies the curves layer to only the layer immediately below it. So, I boosted the brightness of the firefly images a bit and brought down the background image to make it look more like…[Read more]

The firefly photos show some noise in the form of small white dots here and there.

Al,
An Arca Swiss 6×9 F-Classic like this one can be had for around $1800 used. And the form factor of 6×9 (2×3 in) is much smaller than 4×5 (in). Something to consider for field use.

These days tilted horizons are all the rage in senior and wedding photography. It drives me nuts although I have tried it a time or two myself.

We've had all four lenses for quite some time and even offer them for remote Test Drive for this very reason.

Yes, the 120 is a killer lens but so is the 70 and it shoots reasonably close so it will be my macro for now.

First, welcome to Red Dot.
How did the 40mm CF or 120mm CF Makro do at f/2.5? 😉 If you primarily use your lenses stopped down for maximum DOF there won't be as much difference than if you tend to shoot more wide-open. I think this is an obvious advantage for the S lenses. Wide-open, the 120 S is…
