I'm incredibly stoked right now! I had the opportunity to pick up a new Leica MP in black paint variation & I went ahead and capitalized on that. Hate to think of what I owe on it but I do believe that with the acquisition of this camera I'll be in good position to begin getting rid of my older gear. That, and I won't have to worry upon arrival if it will in fact work for me properly. Which had been an issue in the past unfortunately. To say the least however I've had the nagging pull to shoot in the vintage 35mm format ever since I got the Leica M10-R in my hands, (my first). This enticing pull towards the medium has been as inexplicable as the incredible and unexplainable sensation you get when you use a Leica for the first time. That same feeling that everyone talks about being ‘unknowable' or ‘intangable' until you've had a Leica in hand and used it personally.
It's like the more I shoot the more I feel I should get back to the roots of photography as we know it. Which of course, especially in relation to Leica, is the 35mm film format. The purveyors of which was Leica as a whole, so it doesn't factually seem too far off that it would invoke such a feel of necessity in the users of their camera to get back to where that camera originated and began. I've felt from the day I first shot with it that getting an analog variation of the Leica Camera was not just a good idea but required to take in the full experience they could offer you as a photographer. Opposed to just skimming the surface so to speak. With that said, I'm all too excited to immerse myself in this familiar and simulataniously foreign shooting experience.. Thanks Leica, I can't wait.
