Today, Leica Camera USA has announced a new trade-up program for individuals looking to switch into the SL system. The details of the program are quite simple. You can trade in a working digital SLR – any brand, any model – and receive an additional $600 off a brand new Leica SL (Typ 601) full frame mirrorless camera. This brings the price down to $5,395 from $5,995 before accounting for the regular trade-in value of your camera. Running until the end of 2018, this program makes it easier to jump into the system for new users, especially considering that many older-generation DSLR cameras would not be worth $600 if sold on the open market. For those with cameras worth more than $600, it's a nice extra bonus.
To take advantage of the new program, send an email to Leica Store Miami to arrange shipping your DSLR for trade. This promotion can of course be combined with other equipment you may want to trade, and you can get value estimates on all of your gear by submitting a trade-in form.
Please do note that this program is only valid towards the purchase of a new SL camera. The trade-in bonus credit is fixed at $600 for any working DSLR and the program expires at midnight on December 31, 2018. Any additional trade-in credit from the dealer will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
