I’m trying to expand my knowledge of classic cinema, but there are so many acclaimed films out there that I haven’t seen. I feel like I’ve missed out on some really foundational works. Does anyone have recommendations for truly classic movies that might not always be on the most obvious “top 100” lists, but are still incredibly significant or impactful? I’m particularly interested in timeless classics that offer a unique perspective or cinematic innovation.

The conversations around what makes a “classic” are always evolving, but the core elements of compelling storytelling, strong performances, and innovative direction seem to transcend time.
