Today, Leica has released a new firmware update for the Q3 and Q3 43, bringing both cameras to version 3.1.1. This update introduces new autofocus customization options, improvements to continuous shooting performance, and support for the latest EU eco-design regulations. While not a major overhaul, the update provides meaningful refinements for both photo and video shooters.
As always, we recommend staying up to date with the latest firmware to ensure the best performance and compatibility. Download links and installation instructions can be found below. You can also update via the latest version of the Leica FOTOS app if paired to your Q3.
NEW
AF Settings Menu
A dedicated AF Settings section has been added to the camera menu, allowing individual adjustments for AF sensitivity and AF speed. This gives photographers more direct control over autofocus behavior for different shooting scenarios.
AF Tracking Start Position
The AF Tracking Start Position option has been moved to the new AF Settings menu section for easier access when fine-tuning autofocus tracking.
EU Eco-Design Compliance
The Q3 and Q3 43 now support the requirements of Lot6/Lot26 under Regulation (EU) 2023/826 on eco-design, ensuring compliance with the latest environmental standards.
IMPROVEMENTS
Continuous Shooting with AF
A new setting for continuous shooting allows capture at 5 fps, 12-bit, with autofocus enabled. This provides a balance between image quality and burst speed when shooting action.
Toggle Focus Point Assignment
The Toggle Focus Point function can now be assigned to a function button, allowing quick repositioning of the focus point while shooting.
Electronic Shutter in P and A Modes
The electronic shutter now supports a maximum shutter speed of 1/16,000 s in Program (P) and Aperture Priority (A) modes, offering greater exposure control in bright conditions without the need for ND filters.
