Version 1.2 of the software is out, easy to use, and something that should be considered especially of you use the M8 for Monochrome conversions.
Nikkor-SC 5cm f1.4, at F4.
Simulated Orange filter using LR4.4 presets. No exposure adjustments made in Post- this is “1-Click”.

The EyeFi cards are definitely compatible with the S and M240. The bottom plate of the M240 was actually not to block WiFi signals (plastic-filled cutout of metal right under SD slot).

Thanks, David. I'm just looking to be able to check a larger image while out doing landscapes, etc, rather than magnifying the LCD on the computer. Interestingly, the EyeFi website does not list either the S cameras or the M (240) as compatible with their cards and software.

Other than using WiFi SD card, is there a way to tether the S2 and/or M to an iPad?

A WiFi card is the only way we know of to tether an S2 or S to an iPad. An iPad can't run desktop software, only iOS apps,…[Read more]

David Farkas;6003 wrote: Rather than going with the same Sony 44×33 CMOS sensor, perhaps Leica will work with CMOSIS to develop their own in-house solution, as they did for the M240.
There hasn't been too much discussion around it, but the CMOSIS/Leica chip in the M is actually the most advanced CMOS sensor design to date. The pixel well…

Take a rope and use it to draw a S. Then extend the base from the top to make a longer S. Applied to an histogram you'll get deeper blacks and more highlights but also flatter medium tones.
At least on DSLR it's my dummy understanding on how I see the images rendering evolving with the new sensor generations.Never had to fight with the…[Read more]

I also think that you can have too much of a good thing.
My Sony A7r files are processed in C1 with a black point at +7 as a starting point. With other settings to balance this effect I find the files a bit closer to the S2/medium format look. The flatness of the medium tones of the D800 was…

It's funny that so many people ask for increased dynamic range, then complain that the files from new cameras with increased DR look “flat” or “have lost the magical look of X”. As you point out, this is just learning a new set of processing techniques.
I get around the flatness that…

David Farkas replied to the topic Leica Vario-Elmar-S 30-90 mm in the forum S Lenses 12 years, 5 months ago
I used the 30-90 extensively on our recent Monument Valley workshop, more than any other lens.
What I liked:
- Not heavy in actual use
- Great to be able to tweak composition slightly without changing lenses
- Great to be able to use in-between settings (I used 60mm quite a bit)
- Nice to keep one filter set on
- Very useful…

If we compare to ff cameras I see 3 differences…more limited high ISO of the S, slower lens (in case of the 30-90 compared to f2.8/24-70) plus the need for a slightly shorter exp time.
I use my S a lot handhold and often at f4.0 or wide open.Thats why I am still afraid that -for my purpose- I would always feel to have to carry another f…[Read more]

This is an interesting discussion, and one that may be subject to change if and when Leica moves to a higher ISO capable CMOS sensor in the S camera.
The S Vario is an enticing lens for its versatility and general usage. It would work in my lens line up because all of my S lenses (and one Hasselblad HC lens) are leaf-shutter. The Vario is not…[Read more]

The 350 Apo from Contax is tempting. The price is a bit steep plus the age and serviceability of the AF motor is in question.-Al

Many thanks … I had started to come to the conclusion that longer glass really would need to be Hassy H or maybe Mamiya or Contax.
Thanks for the heads up
