  • Thank you for the heads up Al. I certainly don't need another sensor cleaning disaster.

  • I'll preface the following with how much I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the S2!

However, for pro works I think Leica will have to address this tethered issue sooner, if not later in the next iteration of the S camera. At least USB3, preferably Thunderbolt because by then it will be more ubiquitous.

One really needs to be on set with paid models,…[Read more]

  • Thanks for all your replies . I understand there are other options out there to overcome the slow Tethering process of Lr , but the point is to simplify the task . Shoot and get it on the computer screen to review and if necessary to adjust the settings and show a close to near resemblance of the final image. That's the way it should work , a…[Read more]

  • I heartedly concur with Mark in regards to Leica's ongoing superlative service…. Not to mention the enthralling quality of their products… Albert;)

  • You were very lucky and won't repeat that mistake again! How did your pictures come out? Was the electronic connection perfect despite the incomplete connection?

David Farkas or anyone else have a chance to test/review the new Leica S tethered speed at the Leica S-Studio at Photo Plus Expo

Shooting tethered is not what it should be like ! I usually use Hasselblad's phocus and its smooth, the adjustment settings are easy to use and the image comes in fast ready to be reviewed on the screen . With the Leica and Lightroom combo it's slow, the image needs to be rotated if shot in portrait , again slow and if you…

  • Thank you very much for that Josh. Yes I was aware of the detail of the Hasselblad system. Their division head described a further update to True Focus II in their new H5D range.
I only had an opportunity to shoot a (casual) 40 frames or so with the S2 over a lunch with a national Leica rep and saw no errors when I shot everything wide open. So…[Read more]

  • The new Leica S has an entirely new auto focus sensor which is not only faster, but more accurate, especially in lower light and low contrast situations. The focus is still center-point only for maximum accuracy, which would require you to focus and recompose on an off-center subject. Hasselblad has a feature called “True Focus” which is what you…[Read more]

  • Just an upate, I have just discovered another issue.

It has happened twice today that my S2 won't fire suddenly, but it was working again when I unmount the lens and release the shutter, or with other manual lenses. Also restart the camera won't help, I had to unmount the lens and remount again to make it working.

I think the adaptor is…[Read more]

I had the pleasure of shooting a few frames with the zoom and 24mm at PhotoPlus. Unfortunately, I can't share my photos since the lens were prototypes. I have been wanting the 30-90mm zoom ever since the S system was announced. Needless to say, I had high expectations for that lens and it didn't disappoint. The images have the same S lens…[Read more]

  • Hi, my nearest S dealer is many hundreds of miles away and there is no local exposure /knowledge on S at all (only 4 million people in my state and I think just 2 or 3 actual dealers in a country of 22 million people). It's hard enough with the M system which I am now using.
Can anyone provide or point me to detail on the changes to the AF…[Read more]

  • Today, Leica has informed us that the new Leica APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH, announced on May 10, has been delayed due to the “extraordinary technical requirements” of this unique lens. Since its announcement, the APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH has been highly anticipated and when it does finally ship, sometime in 2013, it will deliver the finest optical quality that users have ever seen from a 50mm Leica M lens.

David was fortunate enough to be able to use a prototype of this lens in Berlin while testing out the Leica M Monochrom (which was announced at the same time). To see some images that show what this lens can do, check out his Leica M Monochrom review. The lens' performance shines through when using the Monochrom, given the extremely high demands of that camera's unique sensor and lack of interpolation.

As of now, we don't know specifically when the lens will ship, or how long the delay will be. When we learn more specific information, it will be shared here on Red Dot Forum. Feel free to Email or call us anytime at 1-800-327-1776 with questions.
