Glad you posted that second shot Jack…I think it's very well done and remarkably good considering the gear that was available to you at the time. When you compare that image to the one taken with the S2 the improvement in the tonal range is dramatic…at least to my eyes. And I like your newer sepia toning even better than the earlier version.…[Read more]

Well, today I decided to attempt cleaning the sensors on both my Canon & Leica. I started with the Canon (EOS-1DS Mark III) and had it pretty darn clean, first using a Visible Dust sensor brush, then Sensor Swabs with Eclipse. There were a few stubborn spots, probably either moisture or perhaps camera lubricant. By time I had gone through…[Read more]

Thanks for the replies and input on this. I posted this on several different forums and got a variety of responses, but most of them were positive by people who were cleaning their camera sensors using various quality products. I plan to attempt to clean the M9-P sensor and my Canon EOS-1DS Mk III very soon and will report back.
Cheers,
Mark W.

Hi Jack: I tried several time to upload high res images for you but somehow the website keeps dropping off. It locks up and I have to reboot the link and then all the time uploading is lost. Not sure how to handle this. I could send you via email a couple of images using a free temp storage site?

David,
Yes, I had a predetermined size in mind when I took the Miller Park shot, which was the full merged image shown on the web link. But then I started to try and make the image more abstract through elimination. I have a client in mind that might want the full shot, but the abstraction is for me. If they purchase the shot, I will show you…[Read more] -

Jack,
I think this crop works very well as does the sepia toning. Also agree that the triptych does not work well with this image as the vertical breaks in the panels interrupt the flow of the horizontal lines. Did you have a predetermined size in mind when you took the shot?
It would be interesting to see what the print looks like…[Read more]

Jack,
Nice images of Miller Park, the color shot was very nice as well! Interesting observation about sepia toned prints being more acceptable for corporate art. I guess design elements like the trusses work better as a graphic vs the full color beauty shot? It would be interesting to work with an interior designer to place those images…[Read more] -

Mark:
I avoid any kind of wet cleaning of the M9 sensor, I find it tends to make things worse. I frequently use a Giottos Rocket Blower to blow surface dust off the sensor. For more thorough cleanings, I send the camera to a local service shop that will do a wet cleaning with the proper facilities and equipment. A few touch-ups in Lightroom…[Read more]

Personally, I'd just get a S-35mm which is a faster maximum aperture, is optimized for use on the S2, and is auto-focus.
this is what I did, but thank you anyway for the input!

Thank you for the feedback Martin. I saw a tripod mount on the grip and thought maybe the RRS L-Bracket could be re-used.
I'm probably going to wait on the grip until Photokina (since it's only about a month away). I want to make sure the grip is forward compatible.

I use the RRS L-bracket with a neoprene Leica Handstrap and Black Rapid R-Strap if I need to shoulder carry. The Black Rapid FastenR-T1 screws through the Handstrap plate into the tripod threads of the L-Bracket. This system has been a sturdy and easily adjustable solution. (Note: must widen the Handstrap plate hole for the Fastenr-T1)

Not sure how they do this but if you down load the NYT iPad application and view the Olympics shots of the day …you will see the potential of the retina display . The photographs display more detail and have more depth than anything I ve ever seen on screen.
