teleworm1337 replied to the topic I lost a screw to my Leica M6!! in the forum General Leica Discussion 7 years, 5 months ago
I’ve checked a few camera shops near by me but no one seems to have the right size screw, and I’m a little cautious to use one from an electronics store, as I don’t want to strip any threads inside the camera.

jyamkhan started the topic Do you use a grip for your M10? in the forum General Leica Discussion 7 years, 5 months ago
I was looking at getting one of these type wooden grips for my M10-P and noticed there's something that fits in the hotshoe and adds a thumb grip.
Does anyone have experience with custom aftermarket grips?

The internet has seemed pretty quiet since the release of the cv ultron 35mm f2. I was wondering if anyone has bought one and assessed the image quality and handling so far?

Pankh started the topic What do you guys use to clean your lens? in the forum General Leica Discussion 7 years, 5 months ago
I've been using a pretty new microfiber cloth. I make sure that there's no grit on there to scratch my lens. Also, does anyone use protective gear for snow/rain conditions even if their lens are fixed? I covered up the microphone to shoot during snowy conditions, but I'm not sure if it helps with protecting my camera. I use the Leica Q if that's…[Read more]

Today I have updated the firmware from my Leica Q directly from 1.0 to the new 3.0. Is that OK ? Or must I also update the firmwares between the 1.0 and the 3.0 ?
Thanks alot for the clear update instructions from RDF !

Summarits are on their second generation now. Older = 2.5, newer = 2.4. You need to google the differences. I think some got a slightly better close focus ability. For your first lens, I would make sure they focus down to 70cm, when it comes to 35 or 50. You may want to check the Zeiss Planar 2/50. Does not break the bank and you can sell it later…[Read more]

While I enjoy discussing about Leica, I have received a number of unsolicited messages looking for things beyond Leica.
Most obviously these are crooks abusing this forum.
How can we report these fake accounts?
There is no link for blocking or reporting these people.
Honestly I have no trouble in any forum except this one. -

Hey guys,
I got an M6 twelve months ago and have gone through six different lenses (five Zeiss, one Canon) over that period just to work out what I like with a rangefinder. I've now decided that I like a 35mm for street shooting and a 50mm for portraits. They are my two areas of interest in photography.
Now I have that settled, I'd like to buy…[Read more]

A little backstory, right now I have a Sony A7r iii that I used for mainly as a b-cam for video at my old job. But now I’ve changed jobs and just have it for personal work (portaits and street photography). I know it’s still a great camera, but it’s just not “fun” to shoot and a lot more than I really need. I’ve found myself using my Canonet ql1…[Read more]

New to Leica world, still getting used to some quirky menu/interface things after shooting years on Fuji and Canon. Nothing I wasn't expecting. And I'm really happy with the images I'm getting … when I can get them. I've had my Leica QP about 3 weeks and I have to say, the daily freezing/crashing has me pulling my hair out. Is this normal for…[Read more]

jwalamukhi started the topic Leica Meter repair question!! in the forum General Leica Discussion 7 years, 5 months ago
Hey folks, I recently dug out some of my grandmother’s old photography gear (m3, summicron 50 and 90, summaron 35, and a Leica meter). Most of it is in great condition and seems to be operating properly. (Side note: any reason to bother with a CLA since it’s all been in a box for a decade at least?) Then there’s the meter. Therese no visible damag…[Read more]

So, I posed the question of an APO tele extender to the lens designers when I was at the factory last summer. The answer was that they already have a 1.5x extender that doesn't result in light loss or reduction in quality. “It's called a Leica CL.” Actually makes sense. You still get 24MP and the equivalent of a 135-420mm while retaining the f/2.8-4 max aperture. Also, AF and OIS work perfectly on the CL. If Leica sold an L tele extender it would probably cost the same as an entire CL camera. So, you get an extender and a backup body that can take all the SL lenses. Not so crazy, right?
