Mark Gowin replied to the topic Lightroom 4 in the forum Workflow and Processing 12 years, 10 months ago
I can assure you that Lightroom 4 fully supports the S2. In fact, LR4 is included when you buy a S2. Leica and Adobe seem to have an excellent relationship. In fact, this link shows that the latest release candidate for LR4 includes profiles for S lens that haven't even been released yet.

Mark Gowin replied to the topic The best for clean S sensor please in the forum S2 12 years, 10 months ago
Visible Dust makes sensor swabs sized for the S2 and they have good products for wet cleaning. However, wet cleaning should be a last resort. First try a blower, then light brush (Visible Dust makes good brushes as well). If it is oil on your sensor as you suspect, a wet clean will be necessary. However, it takes a brave person to do it yourself.…[Read more]

I agree with Pete – film does still rule! I know when I spoke to you yesterday you said you had your own dark own where you processed the film. Do you process the BW prints there as well, or do you scan the film and do all the post-processing digitally?

For what appear to be spots? That would definitely be a job for Leica. David F would tell you he uses LR spot remover in post production, or back to Leica, he never touches his sensors, probably because he experiences so many horror… -

Mark:
I avoid any kind of wet cleaning of the M9 sensor, I find it tends to make things worse. I frequently use a Giottos Rocket Blower to blow surface dust off the sensor. For more thorough cleanings, I send the camera to a local service shop that will do a wet cleaning with the proper facilities and equipment. A few touch-ups in Lightroom…[Read more]

David Farkas replied to the topic S2 and HTS/1.5 in the forum Alternative Lenses 12 years, 11 months ago
Marc,
Thanks for doing this test!
It's awesome that the HTS works on the S2 in spite of what Leica has stated. I'm pretty sure that when the HTS is used on an H body, the amount of tilt in degrees and shift in mm is passed through into the metadata and there is some kind of auto correction going on. Obviously, this isn't happening on the…[Read more]

Perhaps it is the differences in microcontrast and bokeh rending that gives the impression of more/less DOF…. Basically, just a different…[Read more]

David Farkas replied to the topic Compressed or Uncompressed RAW files, any difference? in the forum Workflow and Processing 12 years, 12 months ago
Jack, I just read the article as well. I'll second what Josh said.
The S2 uses lossless compression. There is no difference whatsoever in image quality. Test this for yourself.
I'll restrain myself from correcting the other bits of misinformation at this time, but let's just say that I would take it all with a large grain of salt.

David Farkas replied to the topic Filter system for the S2 in the forum S2 12 years, 12 months ago
Georg,
The Schneider filters are a lot easier to work with as you can do your focus and composition, then either slide the ND filters into place or unclip/reclip the entire holder from the lens.
I had previously tried 4″ resin filters and was disappointed with the quality and their propensity for scuffing and attracting dust (even when…[Read more]

Georg,
Take a look at the Schneider filters that David sells. They are exceptional. Graduated neutral density filters are available and solid neutral density filters are also available. I bought the one that has IR correction. Unfortunately, I have been so busy at work I haven't had a chance to compare it to my Lee Big Stopper. The Big…[Read more]

There is absolutely no difference. Given that there are a few factual inaccuracies in the article, I would be careful taking too much of it very seriously.
