From what I understand there are no supply issues with Leica M9 sensors. The cameras are still available brand new and we can always order more from Leica when needed.
Leica is all about unique products that are peerless, and I think the new Leica M Monochrom fits that perfectly. Of course they understand it won't be the volume seller so that…[Read more]

The choice really depends on what you shoot, the 24 will be and I don't think the overall size would be conducive to people-street photography. But if landscape is what you are after, wait for the 24. The 30-90 zoom will be a variable aperture lens and slower than the primes from what I hear. However a perfect set… -

I know that heart sinking feeling of realizing there is a problem with your sensor. It's even worse when you are the one that caused it. It will be a long time (if ever) before I will wet clean my S2 sensor again. I am glad your experience turned out so well.

Great images Al. I especially like the space needle photo. I also agree with you that we need a long tele S lens.

I have had similar experiences with the S2 autofocus. I gave up and try to manual focus adjust which works ok, but not great, if the subject speed is slow and steady. Hopefully, someone else will post a better experience and/or solution.

It sounds like you have a bad battery to me. That is a problem I have seen before, where the battery shows that it has some charge remaining but the camera refuses to stay on. At first I thought it was a camera issue but after trying a new battery, I realized it was a defective battery. Send it my way and I will replace it!

I was wondering how often anyone rents either Leica M9s and/or lenses.
I come from the film industry where obviously we pretty much only rent bodies and lenses and I am excited to soon hopefully be apart of the Leica family, but I am curious how popular it is to rent for Leica, whether it is for…

Hi Peter,
I don't own the 120mm, but as I recall you can use a filter holder on the 120mm if you get the correct size adapter ring. There is an issue when the lens fully retracted and I bet there is a spacer or something available to get around that. Several photographers who attended David's Fall Foliage trip last year were using the…[Read more]

I had been using the Lightroom 4 beta and didn't notice any speed issues. In fact, it seemed very fast on my new laptop. Now that I have upgraded to the actual LR 4 release I am noticing slow downs even when zooming to 100% which was near instantaneous in the Beta version.

Ten images exported to 1000px wide JPG, quality 90 with screen sharpening took 38 seconds. I then ran the exact same images through LR4 two ways. The first was without adjustments,…[Read more]
