rgk;1427 wrote: What is the advantage of using the Schneider system over screw in filters? Thank you.
Screw-in filters are useful for circular ploarizers or UV filters where the effect is across the entire image. A graduated ND filter (GND) needs to slide up and down in order to position it for optimal effect, so the rectangular form factor…[Read more]

I used the Upstrap with my Leica M8 and really liked it. However, I have not used the larger version for larger cameras so I can't help you much there. Sorry.

Thanks,

Bob,
I use the Schneider system, which uses Schott optical glass filters rather than plastic resin. I am extremely pleased with the quality of these. Here is a link to the 4″ filter system on our…[Read more]

But are those filters really needed and don't they spoil the image quality (a little)? As far as I understood, the S2 lenses have a special anti-dirt treatment of the front-element, and this also is…

Mark Gowin replied to the topic Future of the S2 in the forum S2 13 years, 7 months ago
The S2 and associated lenses are very expensive no doubt about it. I fully expect the S2 to be replaced with an S3 (or whatever they call it) and at that time the S2 will be worth considerably less. However, the S2 will still function the same and be capable of the same exceptional IQ. If or when I decide to replace the S2 it will be voluntary.…[Read more]

David Farkas replied to the topic is there a macro flash for the s2 in the forum S2 13 years, 7 months ago
I thought that the R1C1 might work with the S2 in manual mode, but according to a few S2 owners who have the R1C1 and have tried it, the R1C1 does not work.
I'm curious if Canon Macro Ring Lite MR-14EX would work in Manual mode on the S2…. any S2 users have one laying around?

Yes, the Schneider APO 120mm T/S Macro can be used on a Leica S2 using a Mamiya 645 Adapter. I apologize that the Schneider 120mm is not yet on our website, but we can certainly get the lens for you if you like as we are Schneider dealers.

Good one Jack. Although three different, but complementary images of Courtney would make a nice triptych of sorts.
David K. That is great news for Courtney and I it should be a source of pride for you.

Josh Lehrer replied to the topic How do I know my new S2 is brand new? in the forum S2 13 years, 7 months ago
It is just about impossible to buy a new Leica camera with 0 shutter actuations, as Leica tests every body in their factory before it is shipped. While there is no way to verify the number of shots on an S2 body, I can say from experience that M9 cameras ship with between 50-150 shots already taken. Additionally, we (at Dale Photo & Digital) check…[Read more]

It appears that this 30mm will be the widest lens available as a CS lens. So, I may have to rethink my lens strategy … keep the 35, but get the CS version of the 30 when available. Then a 70CS and 120CS upgrade.
Here's a tech question for the Leica lads … if you use…

TTL-HSS is TTL on the S2. It just works at any and all shutter speeds up to 1/4000th. Set the camera to whatever exposure mode (M, P, A, or S) and settings you wish to shoot at, and the flash will adjust accordingly. Works remarkably well for me in both direct and bounce modes.
Not sure why you are not able to get your secondary small flash…[Read more]
