My S2 writes first to CF then SD. When I travel, I usually have an iPad and Mac Book Air with me. My ideal configuration would be to write to SD with a backup to (64 GB?) CF.
Is it possible to force the SD to first…

Pete Walentin;1188 wrote: I have the screen since yesterday in the camera and it is amazing. It feels like back in good old non-AF SLR days. I am amazed how precise the screen works. Focusing manually is so smooth, even when you have something far far away the screen supports excellent focusing abilities. On top of this when using AF it shows you…

That could be an expensive trip. Leica's trade-up program for CS lenses will make it more tolerable.

rgk, I don't understand why you are perplexed. I was simply thanking Leica for a job well done. I appreciated their efforts and felt compelled to thank them for their hard work in putting on the studio event. They went out of their way to provide current and prospective customers with a venue where they could use their products in a controlled…[Read more]

Jack, thank you for the kind words. I recognize how important expedient and efficient service is to S2 owners, so I will always do whatever it takes to get the job done.
RGK, Leica relies on its Leica S-Professional dealers for primary S2 support. My experience with Leica S service has been excellent in regard to commitment to the warranty,…[Read more]

Can't wait to see some picutres.
Pete,
I have the images from the 30mm just about ready to go up…. but of course today I am a little distracted. Doing a test shoot this afternoon with some CS lenses at the beach. 😎

I came across the Manfrotto Lino pro vest at Photo Plus last week and it looks pretty interesting. It has a mesh back and is a well thought out design. My only problem is that is only comes in black which looks great, but absorbs too much heat in summer.

Thank you David. This was a long exposure of 45 seconds which helped smooth out the water as well. The clouds were low and reflecting the city lights (e.g, sodium vapor).

Although I have never been there, I have seen hundred of photos of this place over the years. This set of photos is excellent in the way you captured the light, colors, and textures. I am particularly fond of 1 and 2.
How did you handle the relatively shallow depth of field of the S2 in these images?

David Farkas replied to the topic Leica Lens Prices and Availability in the forum M Lenses 14 years, 3 months ago
I'll add to what Josh wrote.
In the past when Leica would come out with a new camera body, they might sell an average of one lens with each body as the vast majority of purchasers were already existing owners of the M system. These owners already had some lenses, so many didn't need the standard focal lengths of 35 and 50.
With the M9,…[Read more]

Josh Lehrer replied to the topic Leica Lens Prices and Availability in the forum M Lenses 14 years, 3 months ago
A large percentage of M9 purchasers have never owned a Leica before, which has created a huge demand for lenses. The used market for Leica lenses peaked around late May, and while it has not gone down very much since then, it is possible to find good deals on used lenses like the 35mm and 50mm Summicron if you are patient.
Any large Leica…[Read more]

At PPE, Leica was also demoing the Schneider 120 Macro TS Mamiya mount, adapted to the S2. With TS, manual focus and exposure is the norm so no real compromise there. Josh and I met with S2 product managers Stephan Shulz and Toni Felsner at Photo Plus and discussed many of the points raised on this thread regarding firmware. I will be posting a summary of that conversation when I get back to Florida. Right after NYC, we headed up to Rochester, NY to give S2 training to students and faculty at RIT. Please stay tuned….

I had the privilege of shooting with the new 30mm lens a little bit while in NYC. In my opinion, it handles just like the 35mm – the very small increase in length and weight were not noticeable. However, the extra 10 degrees field of view was more significant than I expected.

Matt:
The viewfinder of the S2 is very large and bright without a doubt, but it is also very color-neutral. My experience with some of the viewfinders on other brands of MF cameras has been that they often exhibit a slight green or yellow cast.
I frequently use non-Leica lenses on the S2 with the standard focusing screen, and find that…[Read more]

After using the 30mm a bit I can say that the FOV is noticeably wider, but not a huge amount. Really, it is what you'd expect to be a single-focal length difference.
I will be posting shots next week when I return home.
Marc, yes, the 24mm is planned for release next year. It will be the equivalent of a 19mm lens in 35mm terms. Much,…[Read more]
