S 120mm Macro on the SL2. As a partial response to what I've been reading I decided to add the Leica APO-MACRO-SUMMARIT-S 120mm F2.5. I was excited about a fast lens that I could use for portraiture and macro photography. I purchased a near mint condition lens with a “replaced”motor” on eBay. Unfortunately I'm struggling with its use. It's…[Read more]

I have a hard time to follow the YouTube conversations at the Red Dot Forum because for a Person like me (aged 73) and English ist not the native language you both talking way too much to fast.

Hello David, I am disappointed and confused… I shot an entire photo session with my Leica Q in Auto Mode… all of the images ended up being shot at f/1.7 with of course, extremely shallow depth of field. My set up was Auto ISO, so I thought depth of field and camera motion would have been compensated for by constantly changing ISO to optimum…[Read more]

The sensor was beginning to de-laminate, the same problem that dogged the M9. While I haven't heard that the problem was systemic, mine was clearly not an aberration as Leica owned up to it, no questions asked. And it's been terrific ever since.
I do use wireless flash triggers. Mine are Visatec and Vello. I can also use a speedlight. Pocket…[Read more]

Yes they are a bit noisy as there is quite a distance the elements are moving, but very noisy if you don’t truly have a replaced motor gearing. The claim of a replaced motor on an eBay listing would be suspect unless they provided proof. The fact that it focuses at all suggests that it is working for now.
Your approach to focus manually and t…[Read more]
