I've done this scene a few times, this the first with the T/18-56. This was my second attempt to capture the wispy low clouds moving through the lights projected upward from the bridge supports – in the first attempt using the built-in 16 gb memory, the camera spontaneously deleted all of my JPEGs, but left 2 short video clips intact. I went and…[Read more]

Needless to say (I'm knocking on wood) I have NO experience @ this, altho' I'm a retired Engineer and in US, there are car windshield repair places they have some clear epoxy that they fill in chipped windshield & smooth it out w/just with a small cloth. U might want to go & talk to them or scientific instrument repair place too. If not take two…[Read more]

David,
I have now lived with your new format awhile.
1. I think your features of NEws Reviews and Field Tests are handled much better than before.
If I send someone to the RedDot it appears as a better sourced of Leica info than anywhere else.
Congratulations.2. The Forum just takes getting used to it.
Given that over the last three years, you…[Read more]

I just received confirmation from Leica today that there is a bug in the firmware update that may have caused the issue. They have indicated a fix over the next week.
Fingers crossed!

Josh Lehrer wrote a new post, Leica V-LUX (Typ 114), X (Typ 113) and X-E Now Shipping 11 years, 7 months ago
Now that Photokina has wrapped up and we have had time to learn all about the amazing group of new Leica products, we wait patiently for our first deliveries. We are pleased to report that as of today, Leica Camera is shipping the new V-LUX (Typ 114), the X (Typ 113) in both black and silver, and the X-E (Typ 102). While the products might not be immediately in stock due to existing pre-orders, this is great news as it fits right in with Leica's initial product delivery estimates and bodes well for users looking to get their hands on the new cameras before the holidays. You can look forward to more photos and reviews of the new products here on Red Dot Forum in the coming weeks!
If you have any questions about the new products or wish to place an order, please feel free to call 305-921-4433, email us, or stop by in person at Leica Store Miami to see the new toys firsthand!

Shawn,
The new Summarits should start shipping in the next few weeks. The 75 and 90 will come first, followed by the 35 and 50.
Optically, they should offer the same performance as the first-generation Summarits, which is to say they will be excellent. They feature the same basic optical design, but have slightly faster maximum apertures and…[Read more]

Does anyone know when they will be in stock in USA? I heard from this week or middle of Oct 2014. Also any hands on reviews, from reputable source?
Thank you. -

I lost several images tonight. I don't recall the exact sequence of what I did, but none of those were image-delete functions. I've read about this but hadn't experienced it in 2 months of shooting, so I'd highly recommend – if you've been using the 16 gb internal memory in lieu of a physical SD card, to put an SD card into the camera so your…[Read more]

These were taken at the ‘Scenic Overlook' in Southern WVa on the Southbound side of I-77. The date was 27 August – not yet time for Autumn colors. Since I'm using the same computer and photo editor as I have for the prior 5 years, I can see that the T/18-56 is producing much better JPEGs than my previous cameras (X Vario, X1, Nikon ‘A'),…[Read more]

While it's unlikely anyone would mistake this for commercial photography, this image is just my quick snapshot of a LV poster outside of the local store. That said, the reflections on the glass that the poster is enclosed in were so bad that I had to shoot this at an approx. 45 degree angle, then redo the perspective in PP. For me, it's a fun…[Read more]

Very nice photograph of my favorite pier ! Never get tired of looking at the Ocean .
Thanks Roger…I know this is one of your favorite shooting spots. The ocean was flat and not much wind…so no surfers or kite boarders to shoot. Figured I'd work with what I had and fiddle around with some long exposures. This one was shot with the 35mm Summarit wide open for 8 secs. Probably could have used another 4 secs but it's been so…[Read more]
