Thanks Mark!
Yeah, it seems Germany can fix this and asked for a second IDSO 160 DNG shot of a uniform grey unfocused surface which I sent yesterday.
Kelsey confirmed that once you load this calibration to eliminate the dead pixel that's causing the red line, it is permanent solution and you just reload the most current firmware or any…[Read more]

Jack,
You should have joined us on the Everglades trip. It was the perfect location for the 24mm. I gotta get one.

Marc,
I had this happen on my S2 and Leica Germany used one of my DNG files to create a custom firmware. Also, future firmware updates do not affect the custom firmware.

I really like my 50mm Lux ASPH in chrome, it is beautiful and an excellent optic, however I wish it were a bit lighter.

Thanks everyone!
Fortunately, the affected files were few, and not all that critical. I easily did a pixel row selection and used Content Aware Fill in PS6 to correct them.
If I had a lot of files like this, I suppose I could write an action and batch it to all files.
I have been in contact with Kelsey Fain, S2 Product Specialist,…[Read more]

This was a test for Josh and David and either:
1. neither saw my error in reporting or
2. were too nice to think they should correct the error, or
3. starting to worry that I would want to return the lens to Solms to have them make it a 23.25 mm.
4. Too busy… -

Josh Lehrer replied to the topic SDXC card issue? in the forum Leica S 13 years ago
I didn't even know that myself, thank you for the tip about the SDXC cards!
No firmware updates have been made available yet for the new S, so you will not see anything in the Owner's Area. Leica does not allow you to re-install firmware, so they do not make the current version available for download.

Ouch!
Very sorry to see your name attached to this post.I believe that the fix is not as difficult as one would think. You send it back, they do a software fix and it's solved. Of course, that means sending it back.
I know there was a program someone did for M8 files that allowed you to accomplish it yourself, but of course on each…[Read more]

I learned photography on a FED-3, moving to a Nikon F2AS, and thence to a couple of M6 Leicas.
