The handgrip is out since about half year. Don't think the S2 grip works, but I believe there has already been a discussion about that before.

Marc,
I hope that hint was aimed at me. Would love to do some shooting together and I can arrange for some pretty young models if that appeals to you 🙂 I'm in the Jupiter area near Roger…about 15mins north of the West Palm Beach airport.
BTW, I took Jack's advice and picked up a soft sided but waterproof cooler at Costco.

Nicely done Scott. You using lights with that kit?

Welcome, Terence! Nice kit… I still have and use an M2 I bought in 1967. And the 90 Tele-Elmarit I bought the next year. I don't have your 135 or 50, but just a couple years ago picked up the same “goggled” 35 Summaron, which is “Summicron-good” IMO. Your lenses should work fine on the M8.
But as you mention IR filters, there's that chain…[Read more]

menos replied to the topic Leica S Adapter C won't fit to lens in the forum Alternative Lenses 13 years ago
I have now verified that the issue of the Leica S2 + Contax adapter “forgetting” the mounted lens is either an issue of the Leica S2 or the adapter itself.
The problem is triggered 100% reliably when the camera is activating the standby mode.
Regardless, which Contax lens I have mounted (80/2 Planar, 120/4 Macro, 140/2.8 Sonnar, 210/4…[Read more]

Nicely done!
I'd use the S2 near sand and water with little trepidation Can't treat these tools as being too precious … but changing lenses needs to be done with great care as the S sensor attracts dust like an over zealous magnet.
Jack, great idea to put the strobe generator in a cooler when near water! My main portable strobe is a…[Read more]

Hi Jack, thanks for sharing. I like the way the sunlight brings to life the trees in the foreground in version one. OTOH I prefer the shadowless pathway in the second version and I can see how this is very important for the composition, because it directs the eye to the background without any shadows sort of blocking the view into the distance.…[Read more]

Stephan, I really like the look of these images too. Care to share your secret sauce and tell us how you arrived at these colors and contrast?

peterv replied to the topic Leica S Adapter C won't fit to lens in the forum Alternative Lenses 13 years ago
Sorry to hear this. I hope Leica can sort out these issues because I really like the idea of adapting lenses on the S system. But for €1729,- I would expect an adapter to work flawlessly.
After 3 weeks I'm still waiting for a replacement, mine was DOA.

I use mine with several Contax 645 items.
The fit from Adapter to Leica S2 is perfect, as with Leica S lenses – no issues. The fit to Contax 645 lenses and extension tubes is very tight.
My 13mm extension tube will lock after some use of the adapter tightly into place.
My 80/2 Planar will not lock when normally attached.
After using…[Read more] -

Speaking of patience as a photographic tool, along with LR,
When I had finished posting the above photos, I returned to the scene and the clouds had realigned. A cloud acting as a diffuser on the foreground would smooth out the left and right set of trees using nature. So I retook the shot, this time with the foreground in the shade, which to…[Read more]

GMB replied to the topic Nodal Point for S lenses in the forum S Lenses 13 years ago
Indeed, most of the time it's given as a distance from the front element but for the 70 it's different. I did not yet tri it for the S but did for the M, and it worked. I think performing addition tests is only useful, it t all, if there objects very near to the camera. In fact, i did many handheld landscape panos.

Jack, of these your first one appeals to me the most. Graceful lines, attractive composition and color.

You are all correct, but the photographer still has to transfer the number onto the slide.
The numbers on the slide do not necessarily match with bayonet distances. So to be totally sure of your accuracy, the checking procedure is worth doing. Here is another different…[Read more] -

Iceman is correct. For example the Leica Data Sheet for the Vario-Elmar S 30-90mm gives the position of the entrance pupil (from apex of 1st lens element) for two zoom positions as WA: 72.8 mm / Tele: 65.9 mm. If the way this is quoted is similar to that of the M series lenses then the entrance pupil is measured back from the apex of the front…[Read more]

Thanks, but isn't it measured from the first lens surface in light direction? At least that's what they say for the M Lenses …
