Higher ISO would be nice to 2500 – but a new noise algorithm for the S2 would be even better!
Double tap on the scroll wheel for 100% mag – could be a software upgrade for the S2
Higher res screen would be nice, not that important to me.
Faster buffer = higher frame rate
Basically happy with the output and feature set of the…[Read more]

(1) Improved processing speed for a shorter delay between shots
yes, why not, but it's not mandatory
(2) Significant leap in ISO range
would be nice, but I will not buy an S3 for this alone
(3) High-resolution fingerprint-resistant touchscreen retina LCD
hm ……… what for?
(4) Fast, convenient focus verification…[Read more]

Yeah Mark, I'm not sure what I'm seeing either … LOL!
It really is two different looks and feels to a similar subject partially driven by the ability of the cameras as they now compare. When I get the leaf-shutter S lenses, they will be much closer in ability to work with lighting.
I am also dying to get my hands on the H to S adapter…[Read more]

BTW are you seeing only a part of the image and have to scroll to see the rest? I thought linking to a picture will extend the post width? But it does not here. Next time I will upload them again.

I've seen a number of people wanting to compare the D800e with the Monochrome M9.
For work in the Lab- I bought one of each of Nikon's Micro-Nikkors with the D1x and Nikon E3. Great for close-up, technical documentation work. I'll use the same lenses with the D800e.
For the M9 Monochrome- especially for a fine-art application in…[Read more]

Hi Stephan,
One thing for sure the D800E can make larger output (prints) because of its resolution.

can't wait to read your experiences
@Bobby Lee
You are right, the only point is that where I live it is rather difficult to compare two cameras without buying them. The stores that sell Leica and Nikon at the same time AND have also such items as an MM AND a D800E in stock and are willing to let you make a comparison are rare…[Read more]

I have a regular S2. I just added a screen protector on both screens: the monitor and the OLED.

I will most likely order a D800e for work, to replace my D1x. It's about 1/2 the price that the D1x was 10 years ago.
I will be in line for the M9 monochrome- and should be able to do a comparison.

Hi all,
I think it is very difficult to compare the image quality of the two cameras. One use CCD and the other CMOS, one use the Bayer Filters technique and not the other.
I understand photographers always want to find out which camera is better or the best but we all know there is not such thing as the best camera for all…[Read more]

I don't know what to say. David had a Leica R 400mm converted to S mount and it is a wonderful combo in good light (he let me demo it so I speak from first hand knowledge). The key here is good light (meaning very bright light). I desperately want a long telephoto for use with my S2, but the reality is that its use is limited by the need for high…[Read more]

Everyone who was on the New England Fall trip with David worked with ND and variable ND. They were so valuable, every one bought into David's system. I suspect he will be answering you too. But from a user perspective there was no vignetting issue with the 35 using screw in polarizing and ND filters. We also used David's “external” system for ND…[Read more]
