Jack and David,
thanks, that's good advice, the difference in download-time is certainly worth carrying the CF reader.
As a side note, the S2 seems to prefer the CF card. When I first got the S2, I tried to update the firmware with an SD card, but couldn't get it to work. With a CF the camera recognized the firmware and did the update…[Read more]

Peter,
David explained this to me a few years ago regarding download speed. And I thank him.
It is an amazing difference! There is a reason CF still exists for pro cameras.I probably didn't care years ago when I was shooting small files.

Anyway, I have a 32 Gb SD card which I will use in the S2 without the CF in the camera. This will make downloading the files on my MBP easier, since I won't need an extra card…

David,
I stand corrected on salt water spray.
This blog:
http://www.lensrentals.com/blog
Explains why they do not insure their lenses when renters “abuse” equipment in salt water. Also warns about certain kinds of color dust used in color bomb runs.
Never had heard about that. -

Thanks Jim.
That is not really much PP. Looks like a powerful little camera. I have to play with it next time I visit a Leica dealer. 🙂

This should work. If not, you'll have to export the containing folder as a catalog and import that way.
Thanks, David… One of those that is obvious in retrospect! I had missed seeing that. And maybe I navigated the import settings dialog incorrectly. The…[Read more]

As soon as I posted the ThinkTank bag, a friend informed me I was out of date.
ThinkTank had invented the MindShift Gear Rotation 180. It has a internal fanny pack that can slide out to the front when you need a lens or filter change, and then backside for being on the move.
Naturally it solved all the issues I had with the backpack I had…[Read more] -

OK, I am not always traveling light.
With a recent purchase of a third S lens, assorted filters, and a tripod, I needed something that could hold it all, and be transported on a bike. That called for a backpack.Got the Think Tank to do the job. I used their lens changer bag to be a base for the…[Read more]
