So the sensor is the same (formerly Kodak ) CCD ? This is good and bad …the IQ should match the near perfect S2 (no problem in interchanging bodies on a shoot) but it also limits the possible improvement in high ISO to…

I saw the new S camera today at the event and talked to a few folks at Leica about some of the behind the scenes goodies. While I think the upgrades are indeed evolutionary, they are some of the most often requested ones. The new screen (same used on new M, btw) is really, really nice. There is a new menu system, but it was in German and I didn't…[Read more]

Is it know allready which widest f-stop the 30-90 will have? The 30-90 will have a variable max aperture of f/3.5-5.6. For me, the 30-90 will be an amazing landscape lens when shooting from a…[Read more]

No idea on price, but I'm expecting Leica to show the lens along with the 24mm f/3.5 at Photokina in two weeks. We'll have a all the details then…. and yes, I will be attending and reporting.

David Farkas replied to the topic S2 and HTS/1.5 in the forum Alternative Lenses 13 years ago
Marc,
Thanks for doing this test!
It's awesome that the HTS works on the S2 in spite of what Leica has stated. I'm pretty sure that when the HTS is used on an H body, the amount of tilt in degrees and shift in mm is passed through into the metadata and there is some kind of auto correction going on. Obviously, this isn't happening on the…[Read more]

David Farkas replied to the topic Compressed or Uncompressed RAW files, any difference? in the forum Workflow and Processing 13 years ago
Jack, I just read the article as well. I'll second what Josh said.
The S2 uses lossless compression. There is no difference whatsoever in image quality. Test this for yourself.
I'll restrain myself from correcting the other bits of misinformation at this time, but let's just say that I would take it all with a large grain of salt.

David Farkas replied to the topic Filter system for the S2 in the forum S2 13 years ago
Georg,
The Schneider filters are a lot easier to work with as you can do your focus and composition, then either slide the ND filters into place or unclip/reclip the entire holder from the lens.
I had previously tried 4″ resin filters and was disappointed with the quality and their propensity for scuffing and attracting dust (even when…[Read more]
