And I thought you be monitoring this 24/7???…Just kidding :D:D:D.

My dealer already offered to send the battery to Leica and ask for a replacement. Anyway, the thought that this could have happened during my safari in January…[Read more]

I did not have a 2nd battery but got one from my dealer. Turned out it was the battery indeed. Quite a relief.

Lesson learned: carry a second battery, even though one does not need one (as I never got even close to use a complete charge until being able to charge again). Good thing is this happened at home. I would have been devastated,…[Read more]

David, the key question I'd want insight on is how Leica will continue supporting S2 owners with firmware updates that refine performance?

The speculative chatter regarding a S3 is irritating to those that dropped $25K on the S2 and may not be ready for another $25-30K investment soon … at least not without an…

  • Please ask whether there will be any firmware update that will improve autofocus tracking of moving objects (not race cars but people walking at normal spead).

    Thanks.

    Georg

  • Thanks, Marc. I will try that. So far, I had it set to continuous focus.

  • Field test was positive. Obviously, carrying an S2, 3 lenses, a bit RRS tripod and an Arca d4 hear is not really a pleasure, but the backpack made it bearable.

David–Again many thanks for the tip.

  • Thanks Mark, David and Tom. I am not sure how many S2 shots were submitted but I know for sure that I hAVE seen many here and elsewhere that would have deserved to be in the book.

  • Tom,
I ordered the Kata from Amazon as the prices of dealers in Belgium were prohibitive. It arrived yesterday. The S2 w/ 4 lenses fits in easily (one could even add a M9 and a couple of lenses). I particularly like the tripod holder, which seems to hold well the RRS tripod. Even if i will not allways take the whole stuff, the backpack will…[Read more]

  • David,

Thanks for the tip. Will check this one out. Would love to buy from your store but I am based in Europe.

Thanks for sharing this. I am very hesitant whether I should sell the 35 and get the 30. On many occasions I would like the wider FOV. But, (1) the gap to the 70 is then really big and (2) there will be the 24 comming which will be really wide (may be too wide?). I am also speculating on the 30-90 zoom which I heard should be ready for…[Read more]

    Sorry to hear that.

I only had an issue with a 120 lens, where the autofocus did not work at all (i.e., the autofocus did not react at all when the shutter was pressed). My dealer contacted Leica which within a couple of days shipped a new lens to me while mine was still on the way back to the dealer. Otherwise no issues (fingers…[Read more]

Happy New Year to all of you. Currently from Sabi Sand in South Africa. Below a few shots from a 5.30 am game drive on New Years morning. Quick processing on a laptop.

  • All–A belated thank you for the helpful advice I received. Not everything went as planned but I got many good shots and the couple was very happy with the results. In particular, I go a group shot of the 50+ guests with the sun coming from front right (so not ideal). It looked ok on the screen, but was quite spectacular when printed 60×25 cm.…[Read more]

  • Dear all,

First of all, a big THANK YOU for the very helpful advice and your time. I very much appreciate that.

I have played around with the S2 and the SF58 this weekend, using David's advice of manual setting, and was quite pleased with the results. Will try next weekend with even lower shutter speeds. Also, I am about to order the…[Read more]

  • Bravo! Some of the best landscape S2 shots I have seen, and some of the best from Death Valley and Mono lake in quite a while. Keep them coming!

  • Hear! Hear! Unfortunately, I do not have enough time these days to make enough of my camera.

I still remember the PM you sent me about a year ago on GETDpi, saying that you were looking into the system and encouraging me to not be discouraged by the pushing of the alternative brands and the then S2 bashing. One of the factors that we…[Read more]

  • GMB replied to the topic S2 Insurance in the forum S2 9 years ago

I have mine insured in Germany but that person does not offer for the UK. I found the insurance after I googled camera insurance. There are several insurance companies that offer special camera equipment insurance for items that are much more expensive than a S2 (Yes those do exist!).

  • GMB replied to the topic S2P or S2 in the forum S2 9 years ago

Saw no need for the S2P. Got an S2 with a special protection for the LCD screen. The difference in price is almost a lens.

How about that for a first post. I am willing to sell mine for $99,999.99.:D
