You are correct. In order to create a more modern and feature-rich site overall, we had to move away from our previous vBulletin software. As such, the forum functionality is a little more limited, but we have many more community-based features like the activity feed, member profiles with interest tags, friendships and user galleries. In the end,…[Read more]

I reported on June 30, 2014 (post 4768) that the autofocus on my 120 mm lens failed. It has since been repaired in Wetzlar. Now the same thing happend with my 35 mm (all non-CS). This time the lens was returned within about three weeks.
I wonder when my other lenses (70 and 180 mm) will go off line. The failure rate is very disturbing. How can you…[Read more] -

Bob, I won't disagree that you can clean the sensor very well, but based on everything I've seen and read, it won't stay perfectly clean for a full shoot unless you don't change lenses. Assuming of course the entire interior is spotless along with the sensor. I'd like to hear how it goes when the OP gets it where he wants it and then goes to…[Read more]

Dale,
I would like to respecfully disagree…have been cleaning sensors since the Nikon D70 and not had a problem…yes you may use a half box of wipes but in 30 minutes you are
done and have the camera at your side not…on the way to or from NJ or Solms.Need to exercise a bit of discretion and a modicum of physical acuity and…[Read more]

I didn't try cleaning the ‘S', but when I cleaned the Monochrom, after using a blower, a lot of stuff just wouldn't clean up. My inquiries got me the following advice: “Send to Leica for cleaning – the M series shutter etc. throws a lot of stuff onto the sensor” – quote approximate. The thing is, unless you're already an expert in cleaning those…[Read more]

Hats off to Leica for standing behind their products! The M9 entered into service 5 years ago, most companies (Canon, Nikon etc) would just turn their back after their standard one year warranty is up. I guess that is why we lay out the extra $ – for extra service and support from both Leica and their authorized dealers.
