Hi all, just an update.
My H to S adaptor and S2-P were back from Solm, and Solm has replaced a new adaptor for me. Now the focus confirmation indicator works perfectly! I also found out the lens firmware has be updated. When mounting on my HC lenses, the lens firmware version is 1.34.xxxx. I remember the version wasn't so update before…[Read more]

Just an update, my s2-p was back from Solm. Solm checked everything and found everything is perfect, but did a full cleaning, adjustment for me, for FREE! My warranty will be expired in May, so I am so happy for this, esp. cleaning the CCD for free. :p
I now 90% sure my issue was due to the Sandisk Extreme 45mb/s, after my friend and I change…[Read more]

Great capture Gary. I've got the same combo and like it quite a lot. Nice focal length too…right between the 35mm and 70mm.

Here is the second in the 3rd ward series. David K suggested these structural shots suggest options in post processing, which this one received. I am trying to make the shot abstract, and post processing allows for that.
Again 120mm.
In fact, all planned nine shots in a matrix will be just the 120mm.The final dimensions of each photo…[Read more]

Great shot and also a very good display of the quality of the 120mm…

Great photo Jack…it really draws the viewer in. I find myself studying the elements of the sculpture…they are kind of fascinating. And I think it lends itself to all kinds of post processing.

Leica Store wrote a new post, The Leica M (Typ 240) Begins Shipping in the United States 13 years, 2 months ago
At long last, the all-new Leica M (typ 240) has begun shipping in the United States. This highly anticipated camera was announced by Leica at Photokina in September of 2012 and features a host of improvements from the hugely successful M9 that should make this one of Leica's all-time most popular cameras.
As with nearly all new Leica products, initial shipping quantities will be small with deliveries expected to ramp up over the coming weeks and months. Of course we are anxiously awaiting the opportunity to test this camera for ourselves and will post sample images as soon as we can.
Dale Photo & Digital is accepting orders for the Leica M, email us or call at 1-800-327-1776 for more information.
To learn more about the new Leica M, check out David's Photokina coverage.

As I've tested the UDMA7 cards more I do see that any card 32GB or smaller will work in the S2 so I think that they are OK to use. I'd still be very thorough when testing a UDMA7 CF card with the S2 before taking it to an important shoot.

We've only received one very small shipment of the zoom so far. I haven't heard about any production delays, although I imagine this is a complex lens to make. Leica has been shipping a steady supply of CS lenses so perhaps that is what their production is focused on right now although that is pure speculation on my part.

I'd probably just buy another Elmarit 2.8 90 second hand, in good condition and swap the bayonet to get 6-bit coding (assuming that you would be much more likely to find a non 6-bit coded lens second hand, or it would be cheaper to buy than a 6-bit coded lens). Then I'd sell damaged lens with the non 6-bit bayonet second hand, for whatever you can…[Read more]

I have cleaned the M9 and S2 sensors many times using the Giottos Rocket, Eclipse and sensor swabs. The sequence – blow with the Rocket, wet clean, blow with the Rocket again. Yes, it takes a few tries before the sensor is clean (what helps is to start cleaning in the middle of the sensor and push with the swab gently towards the edge. Then turn…[Read more]
