Congrats Brian.
Glad that finally you received it.
what you do like the most about M Monochrom? Resolution or High ISO capabilities. Nice pics btw especially the young girl you took with J3/ Nice contrast on the Nikon 10.5 cm

I've been on a kick lately to convert 50mm SLR lenses to RF coupled M-mount. 50/1.7 AR-Hexanon, 50/1.4 Pentax Super-Takumar, and a Canon FL mount 50/1.4.
The Canon 50/1.4 FL mount on the M Monochrom. The CA on this lens is very low.
Wide-open, FL-B filter to put a dip in Green to increase contrast.

Nikkor 10.5cm F2.5, wide-open.
The 90mm framelines give a 100% view on this lens.

Alex, thank you for sharing the images. ISO 1600 looks pretty good to me and cleans up nicely if desired. I look forward to seeing more images from the 30-90mm. I had a chance to try a prototype at PhotoPlus and I was impressed with the image quality and out of focus rendering of the few test shots I was able to get.

I really like Kodak Tri-X, it is pretty much the only B&W film I use these days.
As for developing, why not develop your own? The basic film developing gear will pay for itself by the time you develop somewhere between 20-30 rolls if you buy new gear. If you can find good used gear, cut that number in half.
IMHO the most important…[Read more]

If the 30-90mm lenses are shipping in Europe that's great news! Usually means the USA is not far behind. I'm definitely curious to hear your thoughts about the lens Alex. I have used the pre-production version and can attest to the weight, although the weight of the S system has never bothered me as I previously used a large Canon SLR with a 2.8…[Read more]

Leica Store wrote a new post, Leica M Monochrom 2013 Calendars Now Available 13 years, 4 months ago
The new Leica M Monochrom 2013 Calendars are now available! The M Monochrom wall calendar features images from this year’s Montreaux Jazz Festival. All calendar images are double perforated so that they can be separated from the calendar. All images were taken by Michael Agel with the M Monochrom at the Montreux Jazz Festival.
This is a LARGE calendar, measuring 16.5 inches in width by 28.7 inches in height. A few images of the calendar itself, including one with an M Monochrom and Noctilux for size comparison:

An image provided by Leica of all 12 months' images.
For size comparison, an M Monochrom with Noctilux attached.
A close up of the date section. As with any good photography calendar, the images take up most of the page!
The month of February. The print quality is excellent. The calendars are available for purchase online at Dale Photo & Digital.

Today I got my S together with the 30-90. Although already used to a Nikon D4, I have to say that the weight of the 30-90 is something different…
I will post a few pictures as soon as I had the time (and wheather :p) to do a few proper ones.

As promised, here is a photo showing the changed remote release port on the S versus the S2. The S, on the left, has 7 pin connectors and the S2 on the right has only 5. Leica changed the associated connector color to blue (from red on the S2) so that there would be no confusion over the old and new accessories. The USB port (green) remains…[Read more]

One of the constant themes in web discussions is that no-one can really get a sense of what images from cameras like the S-System actually look like. Web images are way too low-res.
If anyone wants to see a little more of Leica's image quality beyond that available on websites, I have a new (free) iPad app just released called Photique which…[Read more]
