Pete,
At PPE, Leica was also demoing the Schneider 120 Macro TS Mamiya mount, adapted to the S2. With TS, manual focus and exposure is the norm so no real compromise there. Historically, Schneider has been the provider of TS lenses for Leica. The price I hear is in the $5,500 range or in Leica speak, a “Bargain”. I think David can confirm…[Read more] -

I only read it because I had the same question when I started using the SF 58;-)
Manuals should only be read when they are prepared by people who have actually used the item in question. A very rare phenomenon IMHO.
Anyway, glad to be of help

David Farkas replied to the topic Suggestions for feature additions in future S2 firmware updates in the forum S2 14 years, 9 months ago
Josh and I met with S2 product managers Stephan Shulz and Toni Felsner at Photo Plus and discussed many of the points raised on this thread regarding firmware. I will be posting a summary of that conversation when I get back to Florida. Right after NYC, we headed up to Rochester, NY to give S2 training to students and faculty at RIT. Please stay tuned….

Thought it might be good to bump this thread after David and Josh attended Photo Plus to see which of the many suggestions here are getting Leica's attention..

I should start reading manuals. 😉
For many good reasons, reading manuals is unacceptable and may be illegal in some jurisdictions.

I am wondering when using the MZoom Function on the SF58, if the Numbers …50…75…90… belong to the focal length of the S2 or what I think to the 35mm format?
Anyone any ideas?
Thanks,

I also got to shoot with the 30 and find it more to my liking than the 35 for my applications.

I have used quite a number of vests. I shoot with 2 m9 s mostly street and travel in cities. My favorites are the ex officio brand. The vests are light nylon fabric and have both small and large pockets. I have a very light version that i wear over a tee shirt in florida and a more complete version for carrying more.
The Filson travel…[Read more]

I had the privilege of shooting with the new 30mm lens a little bit while in NYC. In my opinion, it handles just like the 35mm – the very small increase in length and weight were not noticeable. However, the extra 10 degrees field of view was more significant than I expected.

Matt:
The viewfinder of the S2 is very large and bright without a doubt, but it is also very color-neutral. My experience with some of the viewfinders on other brands of MF cameras has been that they often exhibit a slight green or yellow cast.
I frequently use non-Leica lenses on the S2 with the standard focusing screen, and find that…[Read more]

In a practical sense, there isn't a huge difference compared to the S35mm unless you are precisely utilizing the full 30mm FOV … but it also depends a lot on your subject matter and applications.
Normally my subject matter is overwhelmingly people, and the 35 (28mm in 135 terms) is as wide as I like to use for groups and environmental…[Read more]

This is my first post in this forum. Greetings!
I am looking at MF digital due to an interest in landscape and fond memories of MF film. What I like most about using the larger format is the ease of composition. With modern 35mm optical viewfinders, I can never see the entire frame and have to peer around the edges – with a Yashicamat or…[Read more]

Sandisk, Panasonic and Delkin all have 64GB UHS-1 SD cards rated at ~ 95 MB/s reads. The Panasonic is rated at 45 MB/s writes, Sandisk and Delkin ~ 90 MB/s.
Just how fast any of them really are I do not know

My S2 hasn't endangered my other cameras at all. In fact, they are much safer now that they never leave the house.

Actually the fastest CF card right now is San Disk Extreme Pro 128GB, a UDMA 7 card with 100MB/s.
I think S2 supports UDMA 6 cards, no idea about UDMA 7 though.
