How did you know about my 35 cron ASPH Anthracite? I don't remember posting that info online….

I think I'll hold onto it…along with my silver 90 Elmarit. Some vices are hard to give up (lenses too). 😀

  • I was very happy with the S2 in my trip to Burma and Indonesia that I now use it almost all the time which has been a very pleasant plus. I was quite depressed in the fact that I had to send it off to Solms for replacing the top LED and now that it is back, I don't use my M9 and recently sold the D3S. Nostalgia stops me from selling the M9 but I…[Read more]

  • I was fortunate not to have had to sell either my Nikon D3S or M9 systems to acquire the S2 kit although I did have to part with my earlier MF kit and a LOT more lenses to afford it.

As my results improve with the S2 I have given serious thought to whether the Nikon D3S system is something I should consider selling. The main advantages for…[Read more]

  • I use the S2 and my H4d50 … both are used regularly … I shoot a lot tethered so the Hassi is the one I use most and for more freehand stuff I take the S2 for a spin …

  • Pete, I enjoyed your NYC photos posted here and on your blog. I am on my way to NYC tomorrow. Your photos have me thinking of image possibilities. I have been busy shooting fall landscapes in the mountains the last 2-3 weeks so it will be a big change being in NYC.

Hi.. I had the same problem with S2 and could not figure it out.. however after several on off attempts I find that it works correctly all the time now. I wonder if there is a…[Read more]

I use the AC Maxx and have had no issues so far (I don't mind the silver lining). I recently had my S2 Top LED upgraded and sent to Solms who removed the top AC Maxx protector without any issue so it seems they can be removed easily. The service from AC Maxx on ebay was very good as well.

  • I have not had any problems with the 64GB Lexar Pro cards which I have been using on the S2 for over one and a half years.

  • The light on the dead trees at that moment in time was very special and it didn't last long. I think Joe might have missed the light by a minute or two…but he's a talented photographer and I'd be curious to see what he got from that vantage point.

The material is soft to the touch microfiber of some sort.
Net it feels good and is quiet.

I got my first M6 in the early 80's and preferred to use vests for photography back then.
I bought this vest then as the perfect combination of usable pockets and style. I ended up not using it as I preferred to downplay the brand of whatever gear I…[Read more]

  • Kipper,
So far your shot of the dead trees is one of my favorite images from that location.
Both David and I posted wide-angle shots of the location, and Joe privately showed me some excellent work. The dead trees was the best subject for all three of you.

However I did go back and of course try and convert one of my huge merges into a…[Read more]

  • At 25 years, it would be a toss up whether to frame it as a item of art, and
display it above my half century old Leica I inherited from my parents,
or to actually use it in the field. (I have some business suits that are
that old, still in great condition, that I enjoy wearing, so mere age is certainly
not a reason to keep this “in the…[Read more]

I have mine insured in Germany but that person does not offer for the UK. I found the insurance after I googled camera insurance. There are several insurance companies that offer special camera equipment insurance for items that are much more expensive than a S2 (Yes those do exist!).

  • It's great seeing images from photographers like Marc who offer a deliberate style that is flawless. I, on the other hand, tend to like to shoot with a more casual/on-the-fly approach. What's impressive is how well the S2 can be utilized in a number of different ways to fit your own particular style of shooting.
