albireo_double replied to the topic Hassi H to Leica S adaptor–Anyone using this in the forum S Lenses 13 years, 8 months ago
Testing with the HC 210 that I bought second hand recently, as a cheaper alternative to the Leica 180mm (on the assumption that I would not be using this focal length all that often). Fast and accurate focusing, no problems whatsoever. Also makes the loud clicking sound that Marc describes, when used in the leaf shutter mode – but it works fine.…[Read more]

Thanks for the comments. Although I haven't picked up my M in a couple of months, I'll keep it instead of selling it.

Has anyone tried Litepanel's Incas or Solas (or any LED equivalent fresnels)? I've been wondering about the power output. We're about to make an investment in lighting and are figuring that LED is the way to go if the technology is there yet.

I will add that as the ISO is increased the max shutter speed decreases.

Leica Guy;3765 wrote: What's the S2's longest exposure time with the current firmware update?
125 Seconds.
Set the shutter speed dial to B, then depress the thumb wheel. All the times will show on the screen.

Whatever position Leica takes with regard to the upgrade…it needs to happen sooner rather than later. I see no reason for delaying a clear and concise announcement regarding this issue.

I registered all my lenses and never got a voucher or what ever.
I don't get the argument about used lenses. When Leica sold the first S-lenses to the customers, they made a clear statement that they will upgrade those lenses for the price difference (mostely 1000 Euro) later once the CS-option is available (and they were talking about…[Read more]

The oldest lens that I have lined up to try with the Monochrom is almost 80 years.
I guess it can wait a few months longer.

Owners login area. Once you register your S lens you can use the link in the owners area to download the voucher. It will be pre-filled out with your dealer info and the lens info.

So it looks like only the original purchaser of a new lens from an authorized dealer will qualify ….seems reasonable . Maybe not as difficult a process as it looked at first glance . Great for the S2 owners .
Now if they can just start supplying the lenses . 😎

Roger,
The wording on the certificate is below, it does imply that the lens has to have been bought from a Leica S dealer as you will have to go through them for the exchange. So in a way this keeps second hand lenses purchased from private parties out of the program.“Dear Leica Customer,
We would like to thank you for your loyalty to…[Read more] -

Roger, I understand your ideas as being thoughtful suggestions.
I do NOT think for a moment that this offer should extend to lenses bought used. The incentive was intended to stimulate new sales of the S2 and what lenses existed … not everything, forever.
This concept isn't new. The MFD makers have done it for some time. Buy the…[Read more]

[QUOTE=fotografz;3753]Leica cannot make this their customer's problem. It is their problem, and they should solve it. If they wanted to limit the time-line, then they should have clearly and concisely done it up front, not after the fact.

Monochrom's are coming in, just very slowly. Demand is still extremely high which is great, but it will probably be a number of months before us dealers are caught up on our lists. Everyone I know that's received one absolutely loves it, and having some brief time to test it myself recently, I can confirm that there is no other camera like it that…[Read more]

Kurt,
My local dealer finally received one…it is everything you imagine and then some.
I may well sell off 90 percent of my stuff and concentrate on the mono and the new M.
It really is that good.

My personal opinion: the CCD's for the M Monochrom are the “best of the best” as uniformity is even more important in a Monochrome image. I suspect this slows production. I'd rather have the “best of the best” rather than anything less.
My original “Store-Bought” digital camera is 20 years old this year, a Kodak KAF-1600 Monochrome/Infrared…[Read more]
