• Stuart,
Nice shot, I agree with Jack on the white balance for this scene.

I sometimes wonder if the battery indicator is working correctly after a day of shooting! I still carry a spare and have not had to use it even after a day shooting in the cold.

Still, for me I think a lens adapter and a longer Hasselblad lens will be my choice…I will not use it enough to make it worth buying either a…

  • Hi,
I found you comment very relevant.

  • Stuart,
Your point about battery life is well taken. It is amazing. When one finally runs down, I always think something horrible has happened, as I see the camera so rarely down. Then I realize it's just the battery. This occurred once when shooting an event where i actually ran through a 64 Gig card before the battery ran down. I do have a…[Read more]

  • Hi Eric,

I had the same problem with my sensor and I pretty much just wrote off those images. Now that I know you have a software tool to correct the image I would like to go back through my affected images to see if if I have any I want to get you to fix for me if you don't mind.

  • Thanks very much Jack. I do prefer the white balance this way too, at least aesthetically, but I may change later. I would be interested to see your overpasses as well! You are right though about the S2 here — it works beautifully in Iceland. I was very impressed too, as I was outside for two hours and took 40 long exposure photos, and the…[Read more]

  • I prefer your white balance as you have it. I am shooting some overpasses from below and you are motivating me to do some night work on them. I can appreciate why you would like an S2 with the conditions you live in. Glad you are posting, not many of us get to your part of the world, and I like your eye.

  • Nice shot. Looks like it did well. How did you like New York? Any more shots from this series?

  • Lovely photo Edwin!

  • Based on the only 2 S lenses I have used — 35mm and 120mm, I would almost say that the testing is pointless. The lenses are so incredibly good that they don't really have any weak points other than size. The only middling problem I have had is some issues with ghost reflections in extremely high contrast night photography (of streetlights etc…[Read more]

A frequent companion when I am out shooting with the Leica S2 on a tripod is the Leica S-Camera Remote Release Cable. As with most electronic cable releases, this 24 inch (61 centimeters) long release allows the […]

I understand the delay, but sounds like it is too long. There were lots of complaints when the M8 came out about closed eyes, etc., and supposedly the delay with the SF24 pre-flash was tightened some in camera firmware. It's still too long.

It sounds like the S2 may have the same issue.

  • Although this might be deemed heresy and reason for forthwith interdiction, I thought that this might be of some interest here. This morning I placed ( dare I say it??) a Canon 500D Diopter in fromt of the 120 as a quick test. Posted below are crops of the same image shot with the bare 120 and with the 120 / diopter combination at minimum focusing…[Read more]

I find that when using “TTL-HSS” mode with the SF-58 in aperture priority or manual exposure there is a capture delay that more often than not results in my having missed the image given that I often shoot uncooperative moving targets. I assume that I am doing something wrong, but I do not know what. Any suggestions would be…

I am wondering what the lag from the pre-flash is in “TTL” with the S2 and the SF58 or SF24?

My only baseline is using the SF24 on the M8…the lag is enough that I can't use TTL for quickly moving subjects. Thanks for any info.
