Josh,
Where is your shot of you with all the cameras again? -
Josh Lehrer replied to the topic Images from Florida Keys and Everglades Photo Adventure in the forum General Leica Discussion 12 years, 7 months ago
I didn't shoot very much, but here are a few of my favorites from the trip:
I was able to shoot a bit with the new Leica M and some interesting lenses including the Leica APO-Elmarit-R 180mm f/2.8 (used on the black and white shot of the bricks) and a Zeiss Contax Vario-Sonnar 35-70mm f/3.4 (used on the last image). I…[Read more]

How many shots did you use for the focus-stacking?
Thanks.
The horizontal archway shot was 7 images, the vertical was 6 shots. I basically manually focused…[Read more]

3. starting to worry that I would want to return the lens to Solms to have them make it a 23.25 mm.

Josh Lehrer replied to the topic SDXC card issue? in the forum Leica S 12 years, 7 months ago
I didn't even know that myself, thank you for the tip about the SDXC cards!
No firmware updates have been made available yet for the new S, so you will not see anything in the Owner's Area. Leica does not allow you to re-install firmware, so they do not make the current version available for download.

Ouch!
Very sorry to see your name attached to this post.I believe that the fix is not as difficult as one would think. You send it back, they do a software fix and it's solved. Of course, that means sending it back.
I know there was a program someone did for M8 files that allowed you to accomplish it yourself, but of course on each…[Read more]

This is the full frame of the 24mm on top matched for size with the full frame of the 18mm of the WATE shown below the 24mm. Having the plane of the sensor nudge a half an inch or so in location may make more a difference than 18mm vs 18.6mm. While they were both on the same tripod sequentially, I was not as precise as I wanted to be. I used the…[Read more]

Thanks Richard,
I really don't foresee a need to merge 24mm shots. I took that as a record keeping shot of a location, and was curious how it would merge.I shot this photo with the 24 to check on the distortion of the 24mm vs the 18mm of the WATE on the M9. The WATE is a zoom, so no surprise that the prime is superior.…[Read more]

I had said that I was tired of merging three 35mm shots to get to what the 24 gives me.
But the 24 gives me 88 degrees, not 180 degrees. Today I was trying to capture 180 degrees with three 24mm shots. This could work for landscapes, but with architecture it's a bit of a problem. If you want to see more detail of the steps, just…[Read more] -

I have not had the chance to test this myself but Leica Camera offers very thorough lens data documents on their downloads page (at the bottom):
http://www.s.leica-camera.com/en/DOWNLOADS
The documents include distortion charts, among other things, and you could compare the distortion of the 30-90mm to the fixed focal length lenses too!

Josh Lehrer replied to the topic Leica S DNG samples? in the forum Leica S 12 years, 8 months ago
I find the dynamic range of the S sensor to be all that I really need, I couldn't really quantify it because I don't believe that measurement ever really means anything. I will say that I don't have any difficulty recovering highlights that are 2+ stops over exposed, but I rarely attempt to recover extremely deep shadows because that's always…[Read more]
