Georg,
I too am late to this thread, but when I read your first post it was like Déjà vu. I experienced a similar problem a year or so ago and about freaked out. I don't have a Leica dealer nearby, but a quick call to David and a new battery was on the way pronto. Problem solved. The battery is a weak link in the system. When it works it is o…[Read more]

Georg,
I'm a little late to the party (I'm 6 hours behind here in the US), but I would have said it was the battery not holding a charge.
When you see the CF card light turn red for a moment, go off, then nothing else works… 99% of the time it indicates a dead battery. Over the last couple years with the S2, we've seen this a handful…[Read more]

Mark Gowin replied to the topic Firmware Glitch with SDHC Cards? in the forum S2 13 years, 1 month ago
At least now we know the proble is not your SDHC card or camera. Also, simply setting the camera to sequential let's you use the SDHC card as you wish. All-in-all this is not a huge deal, but one that needs to be fixed to prevent inadvertent loss of images because when on parallel, the camera acts like it is capturing the image (review screen…[Read more]

Josh Lehrer replied to the topic Firmware Glitch with SDHC Cards? in the forum S2 13 years, 1 month ago
I tested this here. When the camera is set to shoot Parallel, it will not record DNG images to the SD card. This is true when a CF card is also installed, or when an SD card is in the camera by itself. If you set the camera to JPEG only as an experiment, you can shoot to the SD card by itself even if the camera is in Parallel, but if you try to…[Read more]

I just checked my S2 and can easily replicate the issue except I don't even have to change the ISO. If the camera is set to parallel and only a SD card is in the camera, then the images are not reviewable. As soon as I change it to sequential, the images are reviewable.
I didn't put the card in the computer to see if there were photos on the…[Read more]

I haven't seen this problem, but then again, I can't say for sure I have ever duplicated your sequence of events. I will try it just for the heck of it.

Josh Lehrer replied to the topic Firmware Glitch with SDHC Cards? in the forum S2 13 years, 1 month ago
Could be a corrupt card. I've yet to see any camera-related memory card issues with the S2 over the past 2 years so it would be surprising to see one now. Have you tried a different SD card?

I think this is pretty interesting too:

LR4.1 will introduce entirely new CA and fringing controls. I haven't tried it yet as I am skipping the RC (Release Candidate) and waiting for the full release. My entire catalog is in LR4 and I don't risk…[Read more]

I quite agree with your opinion Adobe's CA removal. Actually, I am a long time user of Capture One Pro, which I find the best (by far) for sharpness rendition and moiré correction. This was the time I used the R9/DMR…

It's been a frustrating day… I've been using flashes on Canon gear for 10 years and feel competent with flashes. After 100 clicks and no joy with TTL and the S2 I was thoroughly stumped.
Perhaps I missed it, but I've read the S2 manual 2X, the SF-58 (found no mention of the S2 anywhere) and went to…

I too prefer the gap between the images of the triptych. I also prefer paper prints over canvas prints however there are some advantages with gallery wrap canvas and I have recently had some made for my own walls. I did a several shot pano of the NYC skyline last fall while at PhotoPlus, was very happy with the results, and decided to get it…[Read more]

Marc,
I'm working on it. In addition to the update on S System, I'm also working on a full review of the M Monochrom, a full review of the X2 and a little something extra…. 😀

I smile every time I see that photo due to the back story. This photo turned out great as a large triptych. Seeing a photo of your triptych on the wall is the only way to get an idea of the scale without seeing it in person.
Question, it appears the triptych consists of three gallery wrapped canvas prints. Did you cut the individual images…[Read more]

Yes, Leica is committed to providing continuing updates for S2 firmware. I was told that many of the feature enhancements Stephan and I discussed back in October will come, but that with all the activity running up to May 10 resources for firmware development had to be shifted elsewhere. Rest assured, Leica is committed to long term support for the S2.
