Well, this is certainly good news. Following through on exactly what they said they would do, Leica has announced a more permanent fix for the CCD sensor corrosion issue that affects M9, M9-P, M Monochrom […]

David,
I am one of the people who have an M9 with corrosion sitting in NJ and just got off the phone with Leia.
I was told it could take up to 3 months to have my CCD replaced and it will not be with the newly announced CCD, I would have to ship my M9 back to them again when they start receiving the new sensors and they have no ETA on availability. He also mentioned that the current CCD replacement comes with a 3 year warranty.Oh well looks like I may must bite the bullet and go for there M240 /M-P upgrade program. I was really hoping on getting back my M9 sooner, selling it and then purchase a Leica “QM2” M240 / M-P at a reduced cost.

Here are two examples of particles I thought were dust but are actually flakes from de-lamination. In one sense it's a relief since I couldn't understand why so much dust remained after frequent cleanings with a Firefly de-ionizer. Plus, I'm very careful when changing lenses.
Hope this helps, Peter.

“I’ve been using the X Vario for about a year and generally am satisfied with it. Maybe you could post a 100% crop to show what the spots look like for future reference?
I've never heard about this on an S sensor before, but knowing the M9 sensor is from the same period and manufacturer, maybe this could be expected. Anyway, I hope you'll get your camera back ASAP!

Not yet, I just discovered the problem. But I intend to and I'm optimistic that they'll do the right thing, I've generally had great experience with Leica service.

Thanks
I've put the H camera down and have been using the S almost exclusively for about 6 months now.
I process in ACR, and use the Leica S profile. I always use a color checker. I am finding that the color is a little differnt from the H (Phocus) files but I have to say I now like the S camera files more than any other.
Funny how I am a…[Read more]

Sent my S2 in for a sensor cleaning and just received a call to inform me that the source of the spots was not dust or oil droplets (common with certain Nikons, et al) but flakes from the sensor coating. They pointed out that the de-lamination would not show up on the images, but still it is a major concern that must be dealt with. And utterly…[Read more]

Can you please explain the technical differences between the S and the S-E, or is it only the guarantee?
Erling, there are no technical differences between the cameras, only cosmetic, warranty, and included accessories.
