anGy replied to the topic Radio triggers capable of syncing at 1/1000 s in the forum S Lenses 11 years, 12 months ago
Following Capture Integration dealer it is possible to work on 1/1000s sync speed with the Pocketwizard III plus. Their ‘speed' mode does work to 1/1000s even if the specs state 1/500s max. The only other model compatible with 1/1000s in the PW range are the expensive MultiMax.

What came as a bit of a surprise to me was the operation of the ‘T'. It's easy enough once you get used to it, but in my experience it still requires paying some attention to the camera, as I pay attention when shooting an ‘M' camera. It's not the same thing, and not the same type of user attention necessarily, but instead of being a “camera for…[Read more]

Bob,
Congrats on your new Move pack…you're going to love it. After shelling out the $$ to upgrade to CS lenses I've been frustrated by not being able to utilize their higher sync speed capabilities until now. I recently found out the hard way that 1/125th sync speed is sometimes insufficient to freeze motion when shooting handheld with a…[Read more]

Nope. The stock Lee holder is designed for resin filters, so there are three narrow tracks. Schneider modifies the filter holder so that two, thicker glass filters can be accommodated.

Normally the camera hosts the lens, but with the Noctilux I think it's the other way around. Nice to see these.

There's enough DOF that it would be difficult to know from this example. Good composition anyway – you got the Kodak Moment.

Marc, with regards to your S' repairs, you might try a new Type 006. There are some good deals on new bodies and it comes with a 3 year warranty. I find the AF markedly better. The S2 was accurate, but mine hunted and stalled alot. The Type 006 is much better – even with the 120S. Also, at ISO 100 the noise pitch is less. It's not…[Read more]

I've been going back and forth with my friend Dave McRitchie and his tech guy Chris Valites at Capture Integration on this issue and doing a little testing myself. Turns out that the flash duration of the pack has quite a bit to do with whether you can sync at higher shutter speeds. With my new Broncolor Move 1200 pack the flash duration is so…[Read more]

Apparently those pining for a S f/2 portrait lens won't have to wait long.
Lightroom 5.5 now has a lens profile for a Leica SUMMICRON-S 1:2.0/100mm. A portend of what is to come at Photokina?
Can't imagine what that is going to cost, especially in CS version that I'd demand. At F/2 it will be the fastest S lens, and the DOF will probably…[Read more]

David K … have you thought about using the AIR transmitter, and an AIR receiver unit plugged in to your Broncolor pack? While it won't allow adjustment of levels like with a Profoto AIR pack, it'll trigger it from great distances without the hard-wire limitations.
You wouldn't need the more expensive AIR radio units with level controls,…[Read more]

Cool – I was wondering if it was listed 5.4 and I just hadn't noticed.
I decided to pull out all the Leica S lens entries to see if there was a pattern to the date string. The date string appears to be a serial number and lenses are added/updated in batches. Each lens does NOT have its own unique date stamp. Leica R and M lenses shared the…[Read more]
