I'll second Jack's recommendation about dealing with David and Josh. Aside from good customer service they have an extremely close relationship with Leica…which never hurts in those iffy situations about whether it's a warranty or non-warranty repair. Been dealing with them for years and they have come thru for me on more than one occasion.

I separate the work flow issues from the display . My focus is on the display as my work flow can be adjusted to a desktop environment with a large screen that displays near 100% RGB etc .
The retina display is how photographers will view my work . As I understand it the retina displays use 4 individual sites for every pixel…[Read more]

Easy to trade in your M9 with Dale if you are in the USA.
I see Amazon is saying they have M in stock, but I would always prefer to deal with a very reliable person, Josh or David at Dale Photo.Jack

Hello everyone,
I am new here. I just started joining various forums for Leica and RF recently. Got my M9-P, Nov last year – I did not know that Leica was going to launch M Monochrom – otherwise I would have waited. Bummer. As a long time user of M6 with B&W films (missed using agfa 25, ilford 50 & tmax 3200), I probably would have waited…[Read more]

As a follow-up to this thread, I recently found myself in need of a new laptop. Mine had a little fall while traveling to Photokina and the lower left hand corner of my screen now has a very strong red cast. 🙁
So, I visited the Apple store upon my return home and played with a rMBP for a good hour plus. Unfortunately, my concerns over pixel…[Read more]

good point Mark, I second that!
I have to say if I had to choose only 1 camera, I would keep the S2 and maybe add a D-Lux 🙂
But in fact there are so many occasions where the M is usefull, where you don't want to go with a 20ooo+ system or you don't want to wear heavy and intrusive equipment that it would be hard for me to imagine a…[Read more]

This is definitely a “grey area” right now, but I will be asking Leica about this when I see them in New York this week.
this is really an important question. We should all insist that any buyer of Leica-S lenses is elegible at least till end of 2012! Finally it's a premium product, and, much more important, not the customer were responsible…[Read more]

stephan replied to the topic The new MAX 24 MP sensor in the forum Leica M 13 years, 6 months ago
I think Leica is forced to develop something different because of the other specifications of the M-camera system, especially for the wide angle lenses which are more common and difficult to handle in this system as for dslr.

Given Leica's drive to deliver the absolute best image quality through the entire imaging chain from lens to file, it is not surprising that they would go the extra kilometer to have the most advanced sensor on the market. They've really come a long way in the last few years, with almost all digital R&D being brought in-house.

I don't know how old the news is, but I definitely see it as good news. I am glad to see Leica on the forefront of this technology. I handled the new M at PhotoPlus last week and to no surprise it felt exactly like an M which is a great thing.
I can't wait to see the image quality from this new sensor. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too…[Read more]

It would be either/or only for financial reasons.
After using both for some more diverse shooting environments, I find the file qualities to be quite similar … so images from one don't stick out like a sore thumb when viewed together … which I cannot say about any of the other cameras I use, or my assistants use (Sony, Nikon, Canon and a…[Read more]
