I love the M9 for it's versatility and small size, but the S2 is simply great for almost everything. I use it as a walk-around camera. Yes, it's bigger than the M, but I spent few years lugging around a Canon 1D with a 24-70mm so the S2 is small in comparison to that. Plus auto-focus is nice to have.

Leica Guy;3677 wrote: I know that some of the forum members sold their M equipment off to buy into the S system. I thought I'd ask if they had any qualms about doing that. I have quite a few M lenses and an M9-P, but they rarely see any use these days. I find myself looking for reasons to use the M over the S. Comments?
Yeah, good question.…[Read more]

Lovely colors! Well, I am still not entirely sure what's up. I have been busy recently, so I did not get around to talking to Leica about it until last week. They saw the sample images and said they would like me to send back the lens so they could check it out. That's the stage I am at now. So still up in the air! I hope it is something easily…[Read more]

I'm often surprised to note others cycling through their gear, selling one system to finance the next. And then maybe regretting the action and re-buying what was sold.
I have qualms about NOT selling some of my M gear to help defray the cost of additional S bits. But I use my M stuff at least as often as S, when the occasion is better served…[Read more]

This is definitely a “grey area” right now, but I will be asking Leica about this when I see them in New York this week. I have a feeling we won't have many updates until the CS lenses begin shipping.

Hi Stuart –
There might be some curvature with the 70S. The pic below was taken at F4 and the windmill blades are pin point sharp at 100%. While editing the image I noticed the structure became soft at the lower / base area. There could be several reasons –
1) Lens was angled slightly upwards, so the DOF plane was at an angle -…[Read more]

Al,
I believe David Farkas has checked into this and confirmed that the upgrades are available on purchases after the Sept 20, 2010 date and up until the CS lenses become available or something like that. Hopefully, David can clarify. I too have a lens purchase after that date which I hope is upgradable.

Have they changed their position on the upgrade process? I thought that there was no time limit on when you bought the original lens and was told just the opposite recently that there is a definite cut off date. So I checked on the owners area today and there indeed is a purchase by date of Sept 20, 2010. So it would appear that any lens…[Read more]

I think the word “delivery date” at Leica means “eventually delivered earliest…”
Good thing they can do optics better than scheduling. -

Actually, I think October is the 3rd or 4th date they have given for CS availability. Generally i do not need CS lenses, but I would like to have one – either the 70 or 120 CS.
Maybe they will start selling the HC adapter with little red Leica stickers so people can put a sticker over the Hasselblad logo 🙂
