Hi Bobby, I have printed S2 images on an Epson 7900 without seeing the offset/crop issue you describe. I have printed from both Lightroom 3 and CS5 on Mac 10.6.8. So it should be possible … but it seems strange that this problem only occurs with your S files!
Out of curiosity, what is your page size for the S2 image that you're trying to…[Read more]

Another vote for Bali or somewhere exotic in Asia 😉 Wish I was there but my S2 is at Solms in any case (seems Leica Japan cannot replace the LED on the top 🙁
Looking forward to the great pictures,

Not that cold yesterday, but windy.
Sun out today, color at peak.
Yesterday we were shooting in rain for an hour and some of the best images came then. -

Enjoying the daily posts of new england ..looks like you are getting some cold weather at least early in the morning. David is starting to take on the persona of one of the PBS wilderness photographers . The color looks like its coming in for you and you had some winter clouds making for some nice images .

Cam,
Beautiful shots!
Regarding your question, I usually upload images which are 1800px on the long side, quality level 90 out of LR.
Love to see more images.

I too wish that I was there. Thanks for starting the thread Jack so that we can all vicariously participate. Beautiful shots and colors, Jack and David. Maybe I'll be able to make it next year … or the trip can be moved to Bali or somewhere else exotic in Asia. 😉

Roger,
You guessed right. It was my idea to take the group shot at the start of the trip, as I will be sleeping in my clothes as the week progresses. -

Hi Cam,
I always like to see pictures from Hawaii. Such a beautiful place. Regarding your question David wrote the following: “Keep in mind we have no file quotas or maximum pixel dimension limits on attachments. As long as the JPG is under 20MB, you can attach as large a file as you like. The system will automatically create a 550px…[Read more]

There is actually no question here. It is 100% certain that they are star trails and not an error with the camera. This is just the behavior of the planet at night!

Hi all,
Can we do a test with the same condition but Instead of focusing at infinity we deliberately make the shot out of focus (say turn the focus ring to it's nearest focusing limit). If the result image still have the relatively sharp ‘white lines' then it is the camera problem. If the lines are blur, soft or even not registered then…[Read more]

Hello to all the other film shooters.
Yes, I do shoot a bit of digital, but only with a point and shoot for quick shots of renovations etc.
I shoot everything else in film using both Leica M4-P and my Mamiya 6 systems. I simply like the look I get from film. Well, OK there are other reasons as well. I find that archiving digital,…[Read more]

Hello All,
Well I have had a number of Leica 50mm lenses, so I will list them and why I like or Don't like / have them anymore.
Leica 50mm f/2 Summicron Collapsable: Good Lens. Low Contrast. Liked it for B/W but didn't like the bright chrome finnish.
Leica 50mm f/2 Summicron Version 4: This was a great lens. I have never seen…[Read more]

As you might guess… I don t shoot this type of subject much. I am really into street shooting and some sports ..so i am more likely to be working with an M9 or D3s.
I believe you are correct about the star trails…but i was trying to determine if they were this large because the star moved that far in 32s or if its from overloading a…[Read more]

Take it from an aurora photographer…those are star trails. Your camera is perfect (well, at least in this way). We are on a spinning rock…if you want stars to be point sources (especially on 37.5mp), you need very short exposure times (just a few seconds) or a tracking tripod (don't even know what they are called) like the ones used in astronomy.
