I've told my dealer that the minute they are available I want to upgrade at least two probably three lenses to CS … 35 and 120 for sure, and the 70 if I can afford it. I don't need the 180 in CS form.

As I understand it, the S2's focal plane shutter will also still be in action as opposed to say the Hasselblad H4D which doesn't have a focal plane shutter, and only uses the leaf shutter in the lens.

It is a total handful at anything but moderate to high shutter speeds. In a situation like Macro it's really a question mark for hand hold. However it is entirely possible that you're better than I am.

In any case it is a great lens!

As far as I know, the CS lens won't help you (or not much) in terms of less vibration when shooting handheld. The reason is that the mirror still has to travel up during the shot sequence whether a focal plane shutter or central shutter is used. I think the mirror would be the biggest source of vibration. Perhaps I am wrong and someone else will chime in.

Thank you for the kind comments everyone. I was drawn to make the image because the multiple mini falls all on one level made for a rather wide larger overall falls. I didn't really think about printing the image when I made it. The ratio of this image is not very practical for display except for in a very unique space.

You guessed what I would suggest pretty well. However I do quadriptychs too. For Mark's size image my usual triptych would not work as well.
Please forgive me Mark for borrowing the image for an example.

The SU-800 Commander for the R1C1 does have the ability to control the SB-R200 flashes in M mode so it should work, although I have not personally tried.

David, as usual, has the fix suggestion for when you are taking the photo.

If you want to try and fix this after the fact in Light Room, you can do a local brush that is set to reduce clarity and or sharpness just a bit. Just apply it to the worst areas. It is pretty fast. Not perfect, but I would rather skip the AA filter to get the rest of…[Read more]
